The reserator I think is too expensive for me. MCP350 is the pump that comes with the Swiftech kits. Is this the one you are talking about? Yep, that's the one. They also do (did? they may have stopped recently) supply the MCP650 which isn't quiet. The MCP350 is arguably the best pump in the world ...

Re: Help choosing parts
If you've got the space and don't plan on moving about a lot, get the Zalman reserator. If you plan to move it, or don't have room for a reserator/don't like the looks then some of the Swiftech kits are probably worth a look - they're well engineered, and have simple plug-in fittings for the tubes i...

Ideally i would say Seasonic but the only place you can buy them from is Xcase and they want over £50 for 350w. The reason is because they must import them rather than buy them from a local distributor. XCase have the Rev A3 (Super Tornadoes?). Other places like coolnquiet have the Rev A2s....

When I close the front door the airflow goes dramatically down. Theres no PC in this case yet so I have no idea how this will affect temps, but it's an issues I really didnt see coming. It reduces the allready very-very low airflow of the Nexus fans to a bare minimum. I'm wondering if the effect is...

problem is after spending 35-40 quid on the case theres not enough left in your 70 quid budget for a good powerful quiet psu if 350w is enough you can get the fortron source 350w from microdirect.co.uk for 30 quid the 400w come in at just over 40 quid. There are also hiper power supplies, but i don...

I've got no better ideas than you, but if I even suspected my HDD was making funny noises I'd start backing everything up very rapidly!Reachable wrote:A hearing test with a closed case puts the sound's intensity loudest about where the hard drive should be. No certainties there, either.

Re: bye-bye noise!
Couple of points: 1) CPU/GPU are very dense heat sources - PSU parts tend to be less so, and hence are more suitable for quiet air cooling. 2) PSUs can already practically use 120m fans, and these are the same size that would be used for radiators/heatercores anyway in most cases. These aren't easy ...

Other issue is the NB/SB Chip fan. Stock it is an 8000+ screamer. If you go dual video you can't fit a tall cooler so I'm stumped. I've undervolted way down, but don't know how much cooling I'm getting though... Yeah, very relevant to me to as I'm planning pretty much the same build (only watercool...

Also, nForce4-SLI chips have active cooling - the others are passive ;) Yeah, that's the only think counting against it in my mind. And there doesn't look like there's any room for a passive cooler if the card overhangs the slot at all. However, I do have a "cunning plan" I'd like opinions on. I pl...

Does the fan look like this pic?: pic (from this link). Not really - it's got 7 blades and while they're not swept back the edges are very rounded - they look quite like flower petals actually... How did turn out? Any update? I've not tried them in a system, but attached to a Thermochill 120.1 one of them pulling shifts a reasonable amount of air (several times what my Papst 92mm @7v does) while being virtually inaudible. The fans have a little bit of 50Hz hum (I think I can hear it @ 2m in...

If you've already got a 1048, already run AC inside your case, then why not just replace the 1048 rotor (the only wear part) and have done? Note that you'd then be best off with something like a Swiftech 6000 series waterblock. That or run it until it finally dies and get a new one. This is still a...

Yeah, I've been following ProCooling fairly closely (I'm registered there too), it's just I hadn't previously noticed that the DDC was meant to be quieter than a 1048. There was a discussion on accoustics for various pumps, but I actually got the impression from that the 1048 was still quieter. Perf...

Re: Eheim 1048
Laing DDC is smaller, lighter, quieter , flows faster and has more head than Eheim's 1048. It runs on 12V DC via molex and has a 3-pin activity line you can plug into your mainboard to get speed report. -Ed What sort of difference is there? I must have dozed off for a bit recently because that's th...

Plumbing a TJ-06
I'm thinking about how to plumb up the system I plan to build in the next month or two, and could do with some noise related feedback. The current plan is to run a Thermochill 120.1 where the HDD bay is on the TJ-06, with a Sunon A2123 HSL sucking air through it and exhausting out a blowhole in the ...

Probably because there is no real standard position for a motherboard. If the fan is blowing downwards then the CPU cooler can be put anywhere on a motherboard, for a given mounting point. If you're going to blow air out of the back you either need to standardise motherboard (and indeed case - remem...

HDD blocks probably arent worth bothering with - they add quite a bit of restriction to your system (thus increasing CPU/GPU temps) while not improving the performance of the HDD. It is worth doing if you plan to copy someone like bladerunner and go completely fanless, but if you have any fans in th...

Presumably you are talking about the unusual HDD cage location? The cage itself is a smidge taller than a 120mm fan, and there is some space above it below the PSU -- perhaps 10cm, as you suggest. A 120mm fan would fit on that back panel -- obviously you'd have to drill out a hole for it. Yep, that...
