You may want to find out what resolution you will be running at. If its just a simple flash graphic then high res might be unnecessary. Flash usually looks fine in analog so anything higher than xvga seems like overkill. Have you seen the flash display running yet? The resolution of the 24" screens...

I made a mistake. The visualisations I spoke about will be 2D only, not 3D. They will be using Flash Player for a visualisation that is maximised and should stretch over all three screens. Anyone has a clue as to whether my proposed combination of 780G/HD3470 will be able to deliver enough performan...

If this is correct then there's a good chance even the HD3650 will fit in my setup. Nope, SurroundView works only with HD3400 if I'm not mistaken. I've chosen to go for the HD3470. It should definitely fit in the picoPSU power envelope but I'll check. I'm still not sure about performance but I've l...

Through the VGA subforum I found some power consumption figures for the cards I'm contemplating for this build:
HD 3650 8W-31W
HD 3470 ?W-25W
HD 3450 7W-10W
If this is correct then there's a good chance even the HD3650 will fit in my setup.

minimum hardware requirements for triple 24" monitor
With the advice from several people in the System Advice subforum I've come up with a configuration for a client of mine who wants a low power system that drives three 24" monitors: Antec Minuet 350 picoPSU-120 with 80W AC Adapter or 80+ PSU from Minuet Gigabyte GA-M69GM-S2H or if available GA-M78GM...

Are you planning on running Linux or Windows? I'd recommend nVidia, both for efficiency and better use under Linux. Though I haven't tried the 690V, I just compared the following two Gigabyte boards for a Linux file server I am building: GA-MA69GM-S2H (AMD 690G) GA-M68SM-S2 (nVidia 7025) I second t...

I am building a server too, and am wondering, why don't you people go for a Intel E4400 ? According to the specs it has a 8W idle usage. Especially since someone here recommends a Txxx processor, which is lots of money, while the E4400 is around 60 Euro here. Could somebody enlighten me why to go f...

One big red flag that flew up as I was reading this topic... what exactly are these visualizations? If we're talking about anything requiring OpenGL or DirectX support at those resolutions, no IGP or hybrid-IGP will give suitable performance at WUXGA. The nVidia 7300GS I have in my workstation stru...

Re: pico psu vs. hd3450
will the pico-psu power the hd3450? how much power exactly does the hd3450 draw anyway? If that riser card from Silverstone does the trick I'm leaning towards a passively cooled Sapphire HD3650 because of the fact that low profile isn't a restrictment anymore and thus the two DVI-ports come into pl...

I was hoping someone would bring out one. But the only thing I can find that does what you want is a Leadtek 8500GT (passive, low profile, dvi & hdmi). Maybe go a Nvidia IGP board and that card? http://www.leadtek.com/eng/3d_graphic/overview.asp?lineid=1&pronameid=381 Is it possible to do three mon...

Re: X2 power savings: s. 939 vs. s. AM vs. BE
Palindroman's figures show that the BE-2350 is a little more efficient than the 3600+ but there isn't much in it and, assuming you undervolt (and why wouldn't you!) I think either would be a decent choice. In fact, I've had some trouble with undervolting a BE-2350 and at the RMClock forum there wer...

It looks like a very good configuration. You might opt for a different mobo though: http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/9053/cpucomparison2atf3.jpg As you can see the Gigabyte nVidia 7025 board is already a bit more efficient than the 690V. Asrock has an even more efficient board but I'm not sure if ...

Maybe this is a silly idea but how about using this Silverstone riser card? In that case I could go for a full-size ATI card with 2 x DVI.

Don't worry about the VGA port, just use the onboard graphics and find a low profile 3450 with a DVI and HDMI port and then get a HDMI to DVI converter (they look like the DVI to VGA ones that are packaged with most cards). I'm not 100% sure if you can run DVI and HDMI at the same time with the 345...

The GA-MA69GM-S2H seems like a fine choice. Your second option is a 690V motherboard, which won't be suitable. It has no DVI out. If you can avoid using VGA, I think you should. A VGA -> DVI adapter doesn't exist because that means converting an analog signal to digital. It will simply pass the ana...

I'll be putting all of it in an Aopen H340, which will be hidden in the casing of the three monitors. I only have about 10 cm to play with, hence the low profile requirement. This case has a height of 9.6 cm. I'll be replacing the PSU with the picoPSU, meaning there will be a large extra venting hol...

175KWH per month That's with two adults and one child in a 75 square meter house (don't know how much that is in square ft). I've taken some new measures which will cut power consumption under 2000 kWh per year. Remember however that every m3 of natural gas stands for 10 kWh. We consume around 1200...

low power system that drives three 24" monitors
I hope someone will find this one interesting. A potential client has asked me to come up with a configuration for a low power system that can drive tree 24" monitors. These monitors will show all kinds of different visualisations (2D and 3D) independently. They will not show the same visualisations...
