Can the Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme be mounted facing the video card? Since the passive MSI 8600gt I plan to get has the heatsink on the top of it facing the CPU, so it would get some ncie cooling from the fan if I can turn it to face downwards faling that a facn on the top hard drive cage can bl...

in any case it's still a lot lower than the Q6600 105w B stepping and the G0 stepping at 95w 8) that was my point. I will probbaly get me a cheap E2160 and o/c it to 3ghtz to hold me over till the Penryn Quads get released. Still will be a lot faster than my P4 2.8c Northwood  And I can sel...

Intel Penryn based Xeon quads... TDP
looking at the TDP of the Penryn based Xeon quads...I think I will go E6750 now, skip the cheap G0 stepping Q6600, and then get a cheap Yorkdale Quad after the socket 775 has been retired...this would be the sane thing to do  The pricing is real good too! http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?...

read this at a Newegg review  Pros: I like the silent operation of this graphics card, but with the heatsink on the backside, it blocked the only PCIx1 port that I had. I found out that you can carefully bend the heatsink so that it is horizontal 90 degrees to the graphics board itself. This ma...

there is a new G0 stepping of the Q6600 due out at the end of the month or early August this is 10 degrees cooler TDP wise 95w I think or you can wait till the Yorkdale quads which will be at the end of the year - which will run even cooler, faster but be more expensive or wait of AMD's quads as well

cache size only effects gaming and even then not much difference between the 2 megs and the 4megs of the 2 chips. Now there is a bigger difference between the E2160's 1meg and the 4meg in the E6600 but when you o/c the E2160 up to the E660, hardly and difference in apps and 3D rendering! An E2160 wi...

I wanted to know if anyone has this unit? http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/015/Conpane4.html How is the fan controllers on it? It comes with 6 total fan controllers and includes all the cables to make em work! Hopefully they are long enough for a P182 I'm building a new system and thought of in...

thanks - yeah I've been looking at the MSI Passive 8600gt and it's not too bad after all, and it is very cheap here! Much cheaper than the Asus and Gigabyte versions plus it has the heatsink on the back and only uses one slot - which will work nicely with the fans from a P182 and the Thermalright 12...

I have that case and that cpu hsi. I tried it without a fan and forget it, it gets to hot if your a gamer. I also have a intel e6600. I used a scythe 800 rpm fan for my thermalright and for my exhaust fan and it works perfect. My idle temps are 38F and about 55F load...you can see my setup in the g...

Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme in a P182 need fan?
would a Thermalright ultra 120 extreme in a P182 need a fan at all? will be using a Q6600 CPU in the review of the P182 here it mentioned the MB controlled fan on the cpu never turned on at all - with the back and top fan running on low I will probbaly replace the stock 182 fans with a Scythe S-Flex...

Fast and quiet AGP video card by PowerColor
It's pretty cheap too!
http://www.powercolor.com/global/main_p ... asp?id=137
runs Arctic Cooling's Accelero X2
time for me to sell my Gainward 7800GS+ !
Only comes with 256megs, but I do prefer ATI -
HDR+AA, and hotkeys to change brightness/Contrast/Gamma ingame

well it looks like my CPU is a bit of a bottle neck, I guess it is getting a bit long in the tooth now, even if it's clock speeds are still very good I ran that X3 rolling demo, and not matter how low or high the settings on the video card were, the frame rates didn't change all that much. Especiall...

well the screen goes blank in Oblivion after 10-20secs if I clock my CPU past a FSB of 230mhtz or about 3.2g, but the menu overlays still work. Drop the CPU speed back to 3.2g or under then it's fine I guess the powersupply must be maxed out on juice, guess I need that Antec NeoHE 550 watt powersupp...

not sure on the cooler situation as I haven't done much research there, but I know that this Artic Silencer on this card is definitely louder than my Zalman heatpipe on the 9800 with the small optional fan which I run at slow speeds - and I can turn up or down with the Zalman fan controller. Somethi...

So are you saying that 2D quality is definitely still better with the ATI card? it's slight, but noticable to me just cleaner, defined and more contrasty. This is on a Sony Trinitron CRT monitor though. Not a night and difference though, but it's there. Kinda warmer feeling...lol I'm an artist so i...
