Re: Help with ideas for new, cheap, audio/video PC
Have a look at this : http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=61094&p=529749#p529749 The op wanted a quiet PC for < $ 1000 to do Audio editing. Yeah, but that build is $1000 w/o software; phaser specified $500-$800. I'd recommend the cheapest Sandy Bridge CPU w/ H67 board. Right n...

mini-ITX case/PS for i3-540, fullsize Optical and 2.5" HDD?
I know there are a few options out there, but I was wondering if there is a de-facto favorite case/PS for an i3-540 mini-iTX system with a full size optical drive and one 2.5" hard drive? The Silverstone Sugo SG05 only takes slimline optical drives, and the Antec ISK300-150 seems to have some seriou...

Shame miniITX only supports 1 expansion slot. Anyone know if there are any microATX fusion boards on their way anytime soon? i.e. the equivalent of these miniITX boards (with CPU included) but in microATX size Yess. Re: Consumer SSD Battle
Does anyone know anything about the Kingston SSDNow V100 series that are currently selling?
NCIX has the 64GB model for $99, which seems to be a great price. Is it a quality, reliable drive? Or is it worth spending another $30-$40 for another brand?
Thanks.

I can see how this could be incredibly useful. One thing I couldn't figure out from the Ceedo site is how the system would run without telling the BIOS to boot from the USB port. If it includes a small version of WIndows on the drive, how does it boot into the system?

Distance between feet, front to back?
Could someone with a GD04/05 please measure the front to back distance between the feet for me? I know the case is 323mm deep, but my shelf is only 285mm deep. I've got overhand space in front and back so that isn't a problem, but I'm wondering if the feet are within 285mm.
Thank you.

Thanks for the ideas. Actually, the shelf itself is 11.5" deep plus there is lots of room in the back for cables. So I could actually go a bit deeper than 12" as long as the feet fit within 11.5". Thanks for the help. Cheap, small(ish) inaudible i3-530 build ...
I'm thinking of an i3-530 build to upgrade video/processing capabilities of the 0 dB Cappuccino PC that sits on my desk. No gaming is required, but I'd like to be able to watch all manner of video/TV, and do basic 2-4 track audio using reaper/audacity. I'd like it to be a small footprint on my desk,...

, but no indication how quiet/noisy it might be?

14 dBA idle
If I'm not mistaken, 14 dBA at idle is much quieter than earlier incarnations. 14 dBA is inaudible in many environments. The older Mini's were clearly audible.

Any answer on this?
I'm wondering the same thing myself:
Antec ISK 310-150
Zotac H55ITX
i3 530
4 GB DDR3
slimline optical
2.5" drive
If not the Antec, what would a better case/PSU be, given a goal of 'inaudible from 3 feet'?

43*C is average during normal use. SInce it is a very low-power CPU, I am often at 40% CPU usage.
I did run CPUBurn once, and I cannot remember with certainty, but I don't recall it ever getting over 70*C.
