speedfan
fair enough, but I avoided this board for exactly this reason. I'm still not sure I would be able to control the fan speeds on it.

False advertising illegal? Not if the manufacturer did it!!!
I reported one wholesaler in my country because they claimed 7200rpm for the GP disks and were not willing to correct that info. The trade inspection organization inspected the wholesaler and reported that they only used specification papers supplied by the manufacturer so there's nothing they can d...

too high + better than xp120?
three things: 1.) I'm disappointed that it's so high (but I like that it has somewhat wider fin spacing). We are in the age of htpcs and if someone wants a big HS, he would get a tower. Those who reach for the top-downs probably need them low I guess. At least I do, that's why I'm using the XP120 - ...

it's the coils on power or hi frequency oscillator regulation circuits. that's why the better mainboards seal them in some kind of hard goo/wax

need passive NB/chipset heatsink under 6cm
Plz help, I'm looking for a passive NB/chipset heatsink under 6cm, preferably "top down" cooled. Now I have the blue zalman ZM-NBF47 , but I still want better performance. I thought about using some vga heatsink, but the clearance around the NB might be a problem. I've not decided about the MB yet, ...

wasted space?
Maybe they tried a version with an additional cooling block and the performance difference wasn't worth the costs? Maybe it's good for the air when there are no additional obstacles?bgavin wrote:no additional cooling block on the cpu mount. That is wasted, empty real estate that could otherwise be useful

I'm sorry but I don't see how making a duct made it possible for speedfan to control the fan speeds. I've read reports that speedfan has problems with this board so I would like to know if it is possible to make it work before buying it.

ALIX.1C + some suitable PCI sata controller card
alix 1c draws 5W, you need a small ac/dc adapter or brick + maybe a CF card for booting. Cpu (geode lx800), ram, lan, gfx is already on the board for ~$140
