Call me crazy but I think it would be possible to fit this setup in an even smaller case: Both the Antec 3480 and 1380 can be made to house your setup. The 1380 won't be big enough for the Blu-Ray drive but everything else should fit. Look at this example: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewto...

As this is the exact use I want a new PC for I will be following this thread very closely. I have a few questions for you: Is there a special reason you chose this particular motherboard? For your audio recording what sound card are you considering or will you be using onboard sound? Another questio...

I am shocked and very sad to read this. Like many in these forums I didn't know him personally but I knew him as an active, informed, friendly and kind member. When quickly reading through very long threads his posts were always the must reads. I think everyone who knew him, personally or otherwise,...

You won't need special cables for an internal drive, just the standard flat IDE ribbon and the power connector coming from your PSU. This is why the internal drives are more convenient and cheaper. For software I would use a general burning program like NERO. The documentation won't be anything spec...

Why would you choose the external version? Don't you have the space for an internal one? Only if you want to use it for multiple computers would I consider the external one. Otherwise it's just to much hassle and it won't make any difference noise wise; if it's not in use it's silent. The choice for...

On the strength of tea: The english way of making tea is using lots of tea and leave it to brew for a very long time. I think the result is undrinkable. Black and bitter. What happens when you brew tea is this; The first three minutes of brewing releases the tastes and aromas that you want. Also the...

Problem of these discussions is that there are always people trying to steer the discussion to specific examples that can not immediately be explained by the "global warming by humans" theory. I don't think these examples are relevant for the bigger picture. I think no individual behaviour can be he...

Most reviews here are about noise level. I think on careful reading you will find that the reviews here always take airflow into account. The noise is always accompanied by the resultant temperature in a given situation and vice versa or by measured or guesstimated airflow. If that were not the cas...

I put a 100 GB 7200 rpm Hitachi in my IBM X30 (P3) laptop. Not a great success. It isn't much faster than my 80 GB 5400 Hitachi drive and a lot noisier. The review on SPCR didn't say so but I can hear a lot of whooshing and buzzing/humming. I can also feel it vibrate hard and the seeks are very noti...

Why would you want to experiment with the AC fans when the Nexus 80 mm fans are known to be good and can be bought for not to much money in The Netherlands ( http://www.azerty.nl/producten/product_detail/82/2126/80mm-case-fan.html )? If yo do it out of curiosity go for it, otherwise buy the Nexus. D...

I would pick up the cheapest (=smallest) 5400 rpm drive from either Samsung or Hitachi. Those have been quiet for years so you don't need to pick a certain type. I don't think the 32 GB limitation will be a problem if you partition in an OS part and a Data part. Keep the OS part under 32 GB and you ...

If it seems like it blocks airflow if placed at the front, I'm prepared to make some vents to the side panel itself, in the lower front corner. I just need to find a way to make it look as tidy as humanly possible with the tools I have or can get my hands on. Maybe you are better off cutting a few ...

Not all multipliers of XP processors are unlocked. I think even most are locked. If you check the serial number on the processor you can Google if it's locked. I hope there's an update for the bios because otherwise your memory bandwidth will slow things down. PS I think Google will be more helpful ...

the nsk3480 is practically a nsk3400 with an earthwatts psu instead of th su380. the second hdd is mounted in the top chamber, and thus will only be cooled by the psu. Which is the perfect setup: It makes good use of the fan that's in the PSU anyway without heating the PSU and making the fan ramp u...

I believe Cubit doesnt make these cases anymore, and went out of buisness. They are quite popular and very rare to come by now a days. Its a very high quality enclosure. IMO, one of the best mini-itx enclosures ever created. I guess the "company" that made them was just some guy doing it on the sid...
