Yep; right this moment I'm looking at 1.12V according to ABIT EQ. When I run CPUBurn, voltage rises to 1.14V in ABIT EQ, even though CrystalCPUID is still set for 1.10. Who knows how accurate this reading is, though...

I don't rip to uncompressed, I rip to lossless compressed (a format known as FLAC; used to use Monkey's Audio before). I use foobar2000 to output via Kernel Streaming to an Echo Audio Mia MIDI sound adapter, which then sends the data via 75 ohm digital coax S/PDIF to a Benchmark DAC1, converting to ...

I could not underclock my Venice from the BIOS, that is correct--whether this is the case with all cores I do not know. ABIT EQ doesn't control voltages for the CPU, OC Guru does, but its selection of voltages is the same as the BIOS, which means neither the BIOS nor ABIT's software allows undervolt...

I am thinking about using both the motherboard and graphics card you used in your build and would appreciate your comments about how hot they run. Do they run as cool as boards with good 3rd party cooling solutions? Are they truly passive, or will I have to set up fans to help cool them? I'm still ...

According to pics in this review, yes.

Looks like the board is very much the same as mine, except no SLI mode selection card and one less PCI-Ex 16X slot, and of course the less expensive nF4 Ultra chip instead of the SLI chip.

The stock retention bracket must be unbolted and swapped out for one included with the XP-120; the stock under-board backplate is used. Just keep the two bolts and the stock retention frame in a safe place; if anything should go awry, simply swap the stock retention frame back in using the stock bol...

It's not the drivers, as I tried several different MSi and nVIDIA versions; it has to do with the temp reading being locked in the BIOS.

I've since switched to a different card that came from the factory passive.

I am not sure how much air would actually come in through the small vents at the front of the CoolDrive; it's not very well ventilated, particularly considering you'll be using a slow-spinning exhaust fan and the side intake has such wide bandwidth in comparison. I am not too confident it would work...

Not 480MB/s. It's 480Mb/s. That's also wishful thinking--it's almost never really close to 60MB/s in actual usage.

Okay, must've been my settings from my NewCastle that made it freeze; I downloaded the newest version of CrystalCPUID and put it in a new folder and works fine now. CPUBurn K7 at full 9.0*200 and 1.1V the CPU doesn't even go over 55C.

Ed's using 2.5" notebook drives. They're smaller, cooler and quieter (and also slower and more expensive). The SmartDrive review is with 3.5" drives (ditto for SilentDrive cautions). Ed, how did you mount the drives inside the enclosure? With the 2.5" to 3.5" adapters or with something more exotic?...

Perpendicular storage gives 2.5" HDD better capacity...

I thought this would be some nice news for many here. I know I'm stoked about it! The current capacity of 2.5" drives is what keeps many people from changing over, but this should help out a bunch (no word yet on pricing, or how these drives will compare to current parallel storage 3.5" drives, in t...

SPCR review showed that SilentDrive is prone to overheating 3.5", 7200rpm drives. In terms of acoustic reduction effectivity, the SilentDrive is completely effective in preventing the sound of these 2.5" drives from escaping, and costs much less than SmartDrive as well. As these are far cooler opera...
