Yeah I'm taking it back at some point, when I have the time. It's just that taking the motherboard to pieces is such a pain in the ass, there's all the cable management etc.. and the worst part is the time without internet :o, I don't know how I could cope with that :). The motherboard has plenty of...

I guess someone should create a new topic to discusse the new "proper" reviews eh? And the 7900 is supposed to consume less and run cooler than the 7800 while offering much more performance (maybe more than the X1900). EDIT: OUCH! and DOUBLE OUCH! But then again, It simply depe...

Nice. At least it is capable to keep the processor cool. Although I am more interested how it would do with a quiet fan like the 80mm nexus. Jmke: Do you think there would be a chance for testing the stock cooler with also 80mm nexus? Just to know how well it will do when silence is the objective. O...

The only ripoff I see here is the fan design, and that's probably because Tt actually buys them from Arctic Cooling as in the past it used Panaflo L1A in certain heatsinks. Well, two years ago it was panaflo, now it's AC fans. The heatsink itself is a standard heatsink that Tt has been reusing for ...

Well here it is - 7800GTX with a nexus 80mm fan swapped out. It runs on 5v pretty much all the time and idles at 41deg. What an overkill. I think that fan was measured at 18db in some article. In recommended fans they even said it didn't start reliably at voltages lower then 7V. But whatever suits ...

You don't need rpm monitoring for controlling the voltage like you said. You could always just try out with temperature monitoring and subjective listening to find out the right voltage. I think your Asus has Q-fan options in bios, so you can set a thermal threshold for the fans to control the speed...

Most fans have a capanility for monitoring the rpms. It is the yellow wire in the 3-pin connectors, IIRC. RPM monitoring/controlling depends on the motherboards. Most modern motherboards have chips that can monitor the rpm, but not all of them can necessarily be controlled.

Enermax Liberty would seem like a good candidate for PSU. At least it is modular and has plenty of SATA power connections for the HDs (8 for 500W model).

Thanks for all the comments and hints! The SX8300 uses PCI-X, but as far as I know, PCIX is backwards compatible with PCI, so that should work with an Epia board (and if it doesn't, I'll just buy an ordinary ATX board, since the Epias are so ridiculously cheap anyway :-)) As for the suggestions of ...

I can answer for him, because I too am from Finland and I know the availability of SP-500 is non existant. The price of seasonics is really high, and availability has been pretty bad in past (became available less then 6 months ago). It is safe to say he has no way to compare them.

you will most likely never use more than 400watts, and non SLI setups will most likely never use more than 300watts. to answer your qestion, it would probably produce more heat to split power usage between 2 psu's than just using 1. if you look at most PSU effeciency results, the lower end (under 1...

Wow I never believed D 820 would be so hot with ninja and a highspeed fan. Although you have overclocked it a bit.

Maybe you should tone down a bit? That Titan fan must be loud as hell. If it is thermally throttling it cannot be a good sign.
