If the fan guard is your only concern at this point and not the fact that the fan on these s12-500's is now ball bearing based... thats the least of your worries. Why void a VERY nice 3 yr warranty for mere vanity? Seasonic is great when it comes to handling RMAs. Keep the fan guard and better spend...

I bought some of those 3 blade Delta 92mm and 120mm fans a while back just to play with. The whole 3 vs 5 vs 7 blade controversy is negated by the fact the bearing (double ball) chatter/noise at ANY reasonable "SPCR" voltage I tested is subjectively louder then airflow generated by this fan. My bott...

Based on my experience with AMD XPM notebooks, with the BIOS and your tweaking of the PowerNow features in Windows (assuming you are running Windows XP or 2003 on it), it can be fairly silent. The main thing will be how you set the threshold's for when the CPU fan kicks on and your throttling of the...

laptop fan coolers

Just curious if anyone has tried any of the fan based laptop coolers that runs off your USB port... and has a controllable fan speed dial. I bought a bobo one at a computer show over a year ago. It's all plastic and extremely light, and had 4 sleeve bearing fans. Controllable with a speed dial, so I...

I bought one for the novelity a long time ago. The main issue will be: are the heatpipes anywhere near your major sources of heat on the bottom of your notebook? Look where the heatpipes are in the pic. If your CPU and RAM are towards the middle or edge, this thing will do almost no good. Most noteb...

Those asus boards typically boot xpm's at 1.60 from my experience, but if it can run 0.05v less, it should help drop an extra C or two. I got rid of all my asus boards as i wanted kt600 boards ...

My take: 1. if you want a more compact case get the antec 2. if you want the ability to use 120mm fans get the antec - though people would argue the 2 80mm rear fans may hold *some* advantage 3. if you like the idea of having your hard drives partially decoupled without requiring...
