bottom to top airflow pattern isn't optimal in many situations compare to bottom-front to top-back, with the former requires enough raise below the case to generate enough airflow and requires more clearing above it.

I use DVD drives primarily for DVD playback and sometimes burning CD & DVD. The spin up noise gets really lound compare to my DVD player or a PS2, thus my concern. given their recent EE/EE SFF release track record, I would guess "shipment"/"availability" in October and in store shelves in December

They are hard and they crumble if you touch them. Didn't notice any reduction in noise with them either, acoustipack blocks are way better. You can tie a knot with them and they won't break. Very useful blocks, they be  The only thing good with these blocks is the box they are shipped in, it'...

Nexus Damptek Blocks

F*CKING SUCKS. DO NOT BUY.

The blocks are extremely rigit so you could imagine how much actual surface area it has.

EDIT: definitely feel cheap compare to AcousticPac's blocks. I guess you get what you paid for.

This news kinda suprised me when AMD made no annoucement about it. I am suspecting the fab guys are saying shipping to the backend packaging/assembly @ malay, which means November timeframe.

Lets just hope if its really true, Dell/HP won't be sucking up all the orders. :P

The E6300 isn't always faster than the X2 3800+ at video encoding even . That is the EE 3800 not the 65 watt one he's comparing. Comparison wise the e6300 is closer the 4x00+ tier of X2's in performance. As for undervolting, that is a concept I never really follow. I understand the concept, but pis...

It just doesn't make any sense to me to use performance per watt as a metrix when you are talking about encoding/decoding. If I want to rip a DVD or transcode some DVIX files to AVI formats, I want them to be done fast. I don't care how much power that will take, but I want them to be done now. Perf...

You need 6300 and discrete graphics card. X2 3800+ is SLOW for HTPC. I repeat SLOW!!! 6300 will crash 3800+ X2 in encoding/decoding and ripping DVD. A 7600GT or 1600XT is definitely needed if you plan to drop in a HD DVD or BR in the near future. You CANNOT have a smooth HD decoding/playback without...

My system is in my sig. I have had up to nine 3.5" hard drives in it and the power rails remained rock-solid. As a general rule, I recommend 300W PSUs for mainstream systems, 400~450W PSUs for high end systems with dual GFX, and 500W for high end overclockers. 500W for high end overclockers/benchers is probably not enough, if you taken into account those 4x RAID0 SCSI/SAS/SATA2 15k/10k HDD, 50%+ OC CPU, 20...

Need a few details. You shouldn't need dampening material yet. First switch all of your Antec fans to Low speed, and get a fanmate to undervolt the thermaltake fan. blowing down the heatsick will be better IMO, because it will also remove some of the heat circulating around the capacitors and PWM. My experience (with hot overclocked CPUs) is the opposite. Many prefer the fan blowing down onto the heatsink, but I get more uniform load temps (same CPU, lower VRM, higher northbridge, all under 47C) if it is blowing away. It's extremely easy...
