Thing is though, the tricool chassifan on the P150 is not connected to the motherboard, it's connected directly to the PSU. But maybe there's some kind of adapter I could buy? http://www.mnpctech.com/3pinfanextension.html Things like this at your local shop, or get a 3pin 120mm fan from Nexus or Sc...

Try using Speedfan to control your fan speed. It's a free software online. The hardware requirement is that your motherboard needs to support fan speed adjustments and your fans needs to be either 3 or 4pin. Set your fan speed to be between the lowest possible % (without turning off)and the highest ...

iPod generation perhaps? Stock cooler is still loud and it doesn't really cool things down at full load. From my experience, Zalman will be able to punch out much higher CFM at similar sound levels thus generally 5-10 degrees lower. If you dont live in areas with hot/humid summers, stock coolers are...

Chris Chan If you move your PSU closer to the mobo, you won't need a duct. For better results you can take a sturdy screwdriver and 'zalmanize' the sink's fins like so: http://www.modd1ng.com/pic/mortis/ylveer.jpg hahaha nice modding job!! btw, caseless systems could be hazardous to your health fro...

You should have enough power for your set up. Regarding the system hangups, is it reproducable even when you unload everything from memory? i.e., unload your antivirus, spyware detector, messenger, etc. I think its some sort of hardware conflict instead of PSU problems. PSU problems will tend to be ...

You don't need 600W PSU for that kind of set up. The major source of noise will be your stock CPU HSF and graphics card, so change to some high quality and silent CPU and gfx cooler. Ninja and Arctic cooling are good choices. You probably need a few fan mate to undervolt your 120mm case fan (or you ...

Er, what known cards are these? They haven't actually been released. Actually, does anyone know when they might plausibly be released? There's no card out yet, and the DX10 GPUs drinks gatorate for power. ATI's R600 and NVidia's G80/NV60 to be more specific. They should be announced in the November...

Well, here's my thing. The AM2 machine in my signature is drawing 128W out of the wall when loaded with SuperPi @ 100% CPU Utilization. I haven't got 3D Mark06 yet as I just installed Vista, so I don't really know what's the system power draw when the GPU is also under load. Just for your reference....

1. There's nothing that's really better in the AMD camp by year end. There could be 65nm A64X2, but the quantity is limited and the TDP is the same as the AM2 EE versions. 2. 4200+ doesn't really boost your single application/thread performance if you compare it to a 3500+, which has the same clock ...

Why not go for the Gigabyte 7600GT or ASUS EN7600GT. They both use passive cooling so they generate no audible noise. Or better yet, change your motherboard to something with IGP. GeForce 6150 is plenty for non demanding games. Saves you a good $200 from the total. You will have to use a TR rev.B re...

Some of you was talking about RAM being cheap. As far as i can tell 1GB 800Mhz DDRII has a cost just short of an X2 3800+ CPU. It is 800Mhz DDR2 that is needed right? Amusingly one of the cheapest one available are the OCZ Enchanced Latency, Platinium Edition :) ? 1GB DDR2 800 costs around $120, X2...

I personally will go for Conroe E6300, stand alone purevideo or avivo graphics, because I do some simple 3D games. :p For my personal HTPC upgrade i will also go with Conroe or Merom, either with an 7600GT with HDMI or some future IGP that can do HD properly. However, right now, and given that only...

My mistakes on the Biostar. But there's only a couple of 6150 IGP out there. Agree that SDTV should be fine on there. But you should probably get 1GB more RAM because IGP shares the system memory with CPU, so it could be somewhat slower with only 1GB. I personally will go for Conroe E6300, stand alo...

Agreed that Intel's HTPC mobo offerings aren't really competitive at the moment given the ~$100 USD price range. Your system isn't an overkill for HTPC because I just recently tried vista on A64 3200+ AM2, and its chewing up my CPU cycles even when I am not really doing anything. 1. Thermalright XP-...

Thanks for all input, people! Right now, the price difference between a AM2 3800 X2 system and a E6300 is virtually nothing in Norway, about 20-30 USD, so right now, I am seriously considering the E6300 based system. Do I understand it correct if I think that the two systems should be fairly equal ...
