Re: Cooler running processors... maybe in the new future?
Looks promising, this would benefit the Athlons a lot.DryFire wrote:This article may be interesting to some of you: http://www.eet.com/at/news/OEG20030602S0105
It's very intruiging. It may mean passivly cooled processors in the future (maybe just wishful thinking).
what do you guys think?

Unfortunatly the KT333 series of chipset does not tolerate CAS 2.0 at any frequency, there for I am stuck. Also, this chipset does not allow much headway for OC'ing as the highest I can set it is "HCLK+33" (being host cpu FSB plus 33MHz) which is the speed it is at now. Sorry for the dissapointment...

OMG () ...The Knights of NI forum is about the most unholy, abismal, dull, mortified, wading place full of total BS! Excuse the language... Their whole forum is an Off-Topic spamming spree! :D Maybe SPCR should shunt all their spammers and losers over to the NI place where they would fit in.....

Actually.. No, We have already patented our Desputer Desk's (several designs) quite some time ago. If you have a problem, why don't you take it up with Rusty instead of wasting your time posting such a pathetic post. LOL... "Hey, buy our product... wankers!" My point is that even though it may take some of the load off, the CPU still needs a lot of bandwidth and FPU power to render more complex graphics (sorry, this is coming from a person who knocks the details in every game up to max). In addition, the PIIIs can only process 5IPC, so lets take a look ...

Yeah, I think the Palomino to Barton jump is worth it. You're getting a much faster processor that puts out only slightly more heat (64 watts compared to 68.3) You may not even have to upgrade your heatsink, depending on what you're running now. Any thoughts on what mobo you're going to go with yet...

athlon you always have to stick me with a tough question. loking at teh opteron i can say you may want to hold out. but a 2500+ will suffice for at least mid next year. not to mention the a64 will come in at ~$300 (maybe more, wouldn't be surprised). I would buy it. I will be buying it after i get ...

Is XP 1700 to Barton 2500 worth it?
I fell like my XP 1700 Palomino is falling behind the times and im looking to upgrade. It seems like the XP 2500 is the best bang-for-the-buck right now, but with a new motherboard (I have a crappy KT333) it wil cost $178. Is this $178 worth it or not? It looks like it will be able to play games bet...

Thanks for the advice, it seems its a good option and hadn't considered it. But, looks like my usual supplier are already out of stock: "discontinued". I'll have to do a little searching around for someone else with a few of these left, blowing them out at good prices of course. You're wish is my c...

No, that's simply tricking the mobo chipset into seeing the CPU as an MP. My theory is that all Athlons are tested at the fab, and the ones that test below a certain current draw threshold are binned for MP certification. The others have their L5 pads cut and end up being XPs. So MPs are simply che...
