Welcome to the forum kees. I'm not sure if you're looking for a ready computer or are you going to build one. It's also difficult to help without knowing all kind of stuff, like: - what kind of connections you need to the back panel? - what programs are you using? - do you need video playback? How g...

Component recommendations for HTPC, please
I'm starting from point zero (meaning I have nothing yet) and I'm aiming for a tiny, energy efficient, passive cooled build just barely capable for the following: - tiny Linux MediaCenter OS - 7.1 audio via HDMI 1.3 - HD 1080p video - WiFi (Wlan N) - remote control Parts I would like to have recomme...

It should be easy if you have a change to setup water hoses high above your system. Even better if you have a cool place up there which water must pass during it's journey. I'm using same idea with air cooling and I have been able to remove all fans from main chamber of P182. http://www.silentpcrevi...

I was also thinking about water cooling couple of years ago. Back then there were not quiet enough pumps, and what i've heard later is that some of them are getting noisier in time (maybe because of moving parts loosing their best performance?). Well, i didn't enter the water world at all but i buil...

How about adding a slow fan to the chimney? :) (top or middle) Wider chimney perhaps? If you can find another spare tube. Could make for an interesting comparison. Thanks for ideas, but... - If a fan would move the air, chimney would have no use. It's either chimney or fan, and in my case I wanted ...

That's the TDP and surely never reached in normal use, I think that normal use add only 1-3W to idle consumption. Maybe you can reach the TDP with 100% burning thou? After undervolting I'm getting that 17W with 100% burning, but I have not used the meter with normal voltage so I couldn't tell at the...

I borrowed it and got some true watt readings for my chimney-PC PC at idle (windows+startup programs only): 73W PC at normal use (browsing, office work etc): 78W PC at 100% burn of CPU+ME...

Now, I know the plug-and-play WC systems (like that little Corsair thing) don't really cut it, but I've always heard that a good water cooler - particularly with a passive rad - is about as quiet as you can get. No? No. Never has been -- I'd say SPCR enthusiasts' top air-cooled systems have been ch...

the pressure is (and must be) the same inside the case and in the room.. Wrong. If it was, there would be no reason for the air to enter the case. You're right - but when the replacement air enters the case from big intake vents the pressure is soon balanced. Then the chimney causes negative pressu...

Is it possible that the FanMate reduces the voltage under the lowest voltage that keeps the fan rolling? There are two important voltages for each fan model: one that starts them up and the minimum that keeps them rolling. Most fans need at least 8-9V to start and 5-7V to keep rolling. Horizontally ...

when idling, all that can be heard is the spinning of the hard disks. With an ambient temp of 20c, idle temp is 26-27c and load temp is 51c I don't see much benefit from WC, reading the above (It will not reduce your HDD noise and you don't need any more cooling power). G210 can be compared to old GF8000 series in performance (GF8600 is closest to it I suppose) and compared to HD4000 series it's performance is somewhere between 4350 and 4550. 40nm technology gives that performance level with very low wattage and low heat levels. Video cards themselves can handle quite a lot of heat, some I've heard have run nicely even at 145C. I suppose it's pretty rare to overheat a GPU if there's any fan spinning at any speed towards it. What should be considered, however, is that the GPU heat get's out of the case as directly as possibl...
