An essential application for any silent enthusiast! It's working well with my AMD 5770.

Re: Antec NSK3480 with Noctua NH-U12P
Now that you mention it, a top PSU position would be a good idea for a fanless PSU. I wonder if it would work well in a bottom mounted position though? If the power supply is mounted with the intake grills at the bottom, would cool air still enter it or would the hot air just get trapped? Anyway, a...

That good. A marvellous build with semi-passive components! And only the case/CPU fans running on idle.Abula wrote:Yes it is semi passive, around 65C it starts the fans, i just bought 2 =)Zenphic wrote:Is the Asus GTX 970 Strix semi-passive? I think the 750TI is but not the GTX 970.

Re: Fractal Design R5 build
Superb build, pretty much the same that I would go for if I had the money. ASUS is definitely my pick if you want to change fan profiles in the bios. Their UEFI bios makes the whole experience much easier. Their AI Suite 3 is pretty superb though, but I believe it is Windows only. Is the Asus GTX 97...

Re: Antec NSK3480 with Noctua NH-U12P
Actually, I like the top PSU position - perfect for fanless PSU. To be a viable Silent Gaming PC contender, it really needs only 2 changes: low impedance 120mm fan intake & bottom panel vented for GPU cooling intake. We might even do a build with a modded case if we can get another sample from Ante...

Re: Antec NSK3480 with Noctua NH-U12P
though the Earthwatts definitely is the loudest component. Swap the fan and drive it externally: it will be one of the quietest PSUs around (it's actually quieter than my Seasonic 460W fanless). I was actually thinking about switching the fan. Any tips on how to connect a 3-pin fan to the internal ...

Re: Antec NSK3480 with Noctua NH-U12P
WOW, that's impressive -- updating a 5 year old PC AND this 5-yr old thread! 8) The system is a bit slow sometimes, but it still manages to get the work done as well as the occasional gaming (League of Legends). I'm planning on fully upgrading perhaps in a year or two. Well, I won't actually be ful...

I usually prefer using the 5V molex mod. Much cheaper than getting those cables + resistors (mostly because 3-pin to molex adapters are usually bundled with the fans already). Plus with the 3-pin cable + resistor, you are basically limited in number of fans depending on how many motherboard fan head...

Lenovo keyboards are quite good amongst other laptop keyboards, but there's still one thing I hate about them: the placement of the Fn key. I always mix up the Fn key for the Ctrl key! Why oh why does Lenovo always put the Fn on the left of the Ctrl key? I would fine it much more natural (when comin...

Actually I switched the side panels. Less inside noise escaping. Plus left side faces me, so no ugly grate.

install the hard drive in the 5 1/4" drive bays I considered that, too. Unfortunately there would lie the unused PSU cables. Unless I'd do some cuts in the side and hide the cables beneath the MB tray. But that's a bit too much for my skills Yeah, things do get tight in the 5 1/4 bays because of th...
