If the door being open helps, it probably is a heat issue somewhere, though probably not the CPU or GPU. Try opening the side an pointing like a big box fan or something at it. It could be that your memory (kinda doubt it) or the northbridge or some power circuitry somewhere is overheating.

While 75 is still hotter than it needs to be, it is certainly a survivable temp since gpus can get to like 110 without any damage. Remember that the 75 will go down some over time as you give the TIM some time to cure. A slow fan just to circulate a little air should give you a fairly substantial dr...

Scythe says some of their fans are 8db... the db rating doesn't mean anything unless they tell you how far away they are and thinks like noise floor. Also, db doesn't tell you any characteristics of the noise, just how much there is.

That tells me where the -5v wire goes, still doesn't tell me what it does. SpeedFan tells me that I have 4.05v on my -5v line. Then again SpeedFan tells me I have 2x +5v lines and a -5v line and a -12v line and a Vbat... Not sure why I have 2x +5v lines, esp. since one has .11v on it, or what the -...

Yeah, that 40mm fan or w/e it is in the power supply is going to be obnoxious. If you aren't fully loading it up, you can probably get away with only 1 exhaust fan.

I'd really try to find one that doesn't have a PSU cooled by a jet-engine.

Good grief, I am guessing the 106 wasn't while doing FurMark either. Maybe you can just underclock the video card using RivaTuner or something. xbit says that the 7300 GS only uses 16w at full load. The only ways I could see 106 possible are: Damaged thermal sensor Ambient case temp > 90c Heat-sink ...

MSI 4830 PowerPlay power consumption

So I got the MSI R4830-T2D512; looked like they shipped the OC edition which is a whole 10mhz faster! Anyway, it seems like PowerPlay isn't working, it stays at 585 core 900 memory. I can reduce it to 295 core and 450 memory with RivaTuner which cuts off about 5-7w or so from idle, but can I do any ...

Higher Power Phase, good or bad for power consumption?

I briefly looked through the forums and couldn't find an answer.

Are more phases in the power circuitry good or bad for power consumption? in general?

what does 4+1 power phase mean?

Sapphire was showing off their Ultimate and Vapor-X version of the 4770 too.

TSMCs low-yielding fab isn't just making it hard to find 4770s, it is also delaying new cards by both AMD and nVidia that are based on the 40nm fab.
