Reminds me of that Monty Python sketch...maybe we should make a Club For Putting Everything On Top Of Foam.
'On my way here, I saw no less than ten things that were not on top of foam'.

breakspirit, I have the 9600 pro Tachyon, this card also kicks up fan speed, sometimes without reason. Try this: At startup, set fan speed using the supplied TGM software, then close the TGM program. Just right-click the tray icon and choose exit or close, can't remember which. With my card, it neve...

I replaced the original fan with a L1A Panaflo on mine, it's really a superior fan. I have better cooling now, since I can turn it up some more and still keep lower noise, running at 7-8 volts dropped my load temps 4 degrees C, compared with the bundled M1A at 5 volts. And at this level the noise is...

Let's see, um, here: In 1953 Heller and Bergman performed an simple and classic experiment. They placed 80 tinnitus free individuals (university members in a sound proofed room for 5 minutes each, asking them to report on any sounds that might be heard. The subjects thought they might be undergoing ...

There's another twist to this, sometimes excessive INtolerance to noise can provoke tinnitus. Tinnitus usually comes along with hypersensitivity to sound, or what doctors call 'monophobia'. If your CRT bothers you, a subway train braking will make your ears hurt. It's rather psychological. Anyways, ...

Just bought it, I'm happy with the heatsink itself, it needs lapping though. The fan is...well, it's good and quiet at 5 v, but has a 'wrrrrrr' sound to it still. I'm looking into replacing it with a L1A as soon as Dorothy drops her prices a little. That would still be cheaper total than Thermalrigh...

I was thinking, maybe some of you had experienced a vga card with a factory installed fan that was at tolerable noise levels. It's hard to tell from other sites what cards are quiet, since noise tolerance is a notch higher elsewhere. And I'm not thinking silent, but simply tolerable. That's subjecti...
