I'm running a Biostar TF7050-M2 and an X2 3600+. I only have a 19" LCD (1440x900 native), so 1080p is a bit of overkill for me. Being the adventurous type, though, I had to at least try it once. It played back a 1080p x264/mkv file with no issues at all. CPU did spend a lot of time at 1.9 GHz, but i...

I sent in my 400GB 7200.10 (ST3400633AS) because of chirping noises that were quiet at first, but got progressively louder. I'm thinking it may be the same thing you are experiencing, tehfire. Sometimes, it wouldn't make the chirping at all, despite being spun up for days on end. Other times, it wou...

The power consumption numbers and undervolting capabilities people have posted on here of BE-2300/2350/2400 systems have yet to convince me of any significant advantage over the cheaper 65W 3600+/4000+/4400+ versions of each when undervolted. And as much as it pains me to say it, as I've been a die ...

Have you tried undervolting as well? The 1.6 GHz Turion 64 ML-30 that came in my Acer Aspire AS5002WLMi is stable at 0.825V at 800MHz and 0.975V 1.6 GHz, and other people have gotten them even lower... CrystalCPUID can provide much better speed control than Windows. I know it's still under warranty,...

IIRC smilingcrow has had good success undervolting/overlocking Conroe-L, I wouldn't know about the older Celerons. It's good to know that Intel has begun to come to their senses regarding the Celerons... That's one of the things that I commend AMD on: even the Semprons (except for a few of the 1.6 ...

I'd agree with mr_plow_king. They're the same architecture, with the E2140 having twice the computing power, and unless the Celeron gets copious undervolting, it will be killed by the E2140's EIST idle. Most tests I've seen have put the E2140's true TDP in the low 40s anyway; only the higher spec C2...

While I don't have experience with that particular Seagate 7200.10 drive, I do have a 7200.10 400GB. If you want a quiet hard drive, I must implore you to look elsewhere. Power Consumption vs. Frequency at Constant Voltage
I've seen many mentions of this in these forums, but nothing particularly in depth. I've often wondered how a processor's power consumption might vary with respect to frequency changes at a given voltage. I see many people talking about being able to overclock modern processors to incredible levels ...

This problem with Brisbane cores is well documented. The thermal diode (AKA "K8 Core" in Speedfan) is broken, so even with an offset, it won't provide accurate temperatures. The CPU temperature can actually be found via the Brisbane's Digital Temperature Sensor. In Speedfan, it should be listed as "...
