Forgot to Say Hi All:
Been running F@H for last couple of weeks now and finding the core to be very nicely configured and compliant when I need the cpu released.
As to my score, it's a meager 1199 but then I've only got an XP1800 to work with.

In Audacity: The 32bit float is the quality of the sample. Basically it samples using a 32bit format instead of the standard 24bit digital format. The next thing to keep in mind is your output format. In order to create CD Audio, you have to stick with the 16bit PCM format, otherwise the disk will n...

Zxian: If your sisters case is a Matx, One I'd suggest is a very sweet looking Silverstone. The SST-TJ08. The only thing it'll need is a FSP Power Supply. Got the specs for case/psu selected right here: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=31853 Shold work nicely while looking pretty good.

Definately need to check the new HS on the northbridge and ensure it's seated correctly with enough thermal compound. Very important and sounds like a good part of the problem. You also state that it seems to run cooler w/o the new zalman so I'd suggest test it w/o any cooler. If temps stay reasonab...

As to your CPU fan, check out Nexus as they're the preferred fan for silent operation. On the Video card front, if you can afford it, go for the passive 6600GT although I'd sugest a cheaper alternative. It's what I'm eyeballing for a Quiet Rebuild that runs cooler and has the hardware accel that's l...

Quiet System Rebuild: Comments Welcome
Well I've finally selected all of the components I'm going with for a quiet rebuild and the total cost is just under $400 U.S. with all parts from Newegg. The reasons I'm performing this rebuild include: 1) Need USB 2.0 2) Increased Memory 3) Replacing a Noisy case Here's what I'm going with: Silver...

Big thanks to everyone who provided feedback/suggestions on this case. It now looks like I'll be able to go passive on the CPU cooling using a Ninja and have plenty of headroom for future needs. So far, what I've come up with is the Ninja in Passive mode on a Venice Core A64 with an S12-330 for the ...

Got curious about possibility of Passive cooling. Seems as though my selected board may have the extra clearence needed for a Ninja although it may be as tight as stonyc's reivew pics. Took some effort but was able to review pics of the boards and I think there's between 1-2 cm clearence since the p...

Any Advice on this Silverstone Case
I recently found this nice looking (specs and design) Silverstone case and was wondering what others thought of it. It's the Silverstone SST TJ08 found at http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-tj08.htm and fron what I see, it looks like a nice quiet case, although I don't know about the quaility of...

Hadn't thought of that but since the HS I'm planning on is similar to a Nexus 6400 except all aluminum and a better mounting bracket (3 lugs). The main difference is the fact that it's a single piece cooler that's milled. So there's complete thermal connectivity plus it's appears to be a little larg...

Thanks justblair: That's pretty much what I thought, especially since I've got a massive HS that's designed to handled an OC'd Tbird. Need Advice on Possible Passive Cooling
I'm looking at a Mobo/Geode Combo deal and a massive HS I bought for OC purpose. Don't know the make anylonger but it takes 80mm fan and is rated to cool Athlons OC'd to 150watts I'm thinking that due to the 14watt TLD of the included Geode NX1750, combined with the HS I've already got, that it woul...

I saw another review on the same unit at Extreme Tech recently and they noted exactly the same issue. First off, reduce to a single stick of memory to reduce that issue. Second, go into the bios and look for a FailSafe setting. If you have it, that's going to disable almost everything and select safest settings to get windows installed/booted Next if windows boots sucessfully, start re-installing me...

Great Article Mike and couldn't be any better timing as I've been forced to rethink some ideas in regards to a new system. Only thing that would complete this is a comparison/testing of some 2xx series opterons as to their basic TDP/TCaseMax ratings against Xeons as it should provide food for thought.

I'd say go for an APC ES350 like what I'm using. Should give you between 5-8 minutes of run time with 17inch CRT hooked up. I'm using one on an XP1800 with Dual Burners that's on all the time. In my case, it's only providing between 3-5 minutes of run time but I'm also pushing loading of the unit du...

Anyone heard of this brand? Thanks for Hijacking: Resolved
I'm looking at an iStarUSA-TC650PD2 EPS unit for a new build and I'm wondering about their quality. Only reason I selected this over a comparable FSP brand is the unavailibility of anything in excess of 600 watts plus the specs state (4) 12 volt rails instead of the standard (2) 12 volt rails in the...

Retrofiting AMD Geode in Place of Athlon XP
I've got a question into MSI about retrofitting an AMD NX1750 in place of my XP1800 on an MS-6340M v:5.0 since AMD states they're designed to be completely compatible with the Thoroughbred Series of XP CPU's. According to AMD's specs, the NX1750 has a TDP of 12 watts while the XP 1800 a/b revisions ...
