The thermalright SI-97 is probably the best socket A heatsink. Get a good 92mm fan and you should be set. I don't think Speedfan supports your motherboard. So you probably need a Zalman Fanmate or other fan controller to slow down the fan.

The duct covers the XP-120 pretty much perfectly, right in the middle of it.

The exhaust fan runs at the same speed as the previous setup. It used speedfan at 40%. About 720 rpms or about 4 volts.

Update. Since I wanted to change my Dad's case, I conviced my brother to give him his and get the 3000B if I covered some of the cost. That's really scary. My P4 3.06 Northwood running at 3.2 Ghz runs at 50 degrees C passive with a 7000Cu. If you wanted to try a fanless CPU setup, you might try getting a Thermalright XP-120 or XP-90 with an Antec 3000B. The CPU duct of the 3000B helped my brother's 2.8 Northwood temps go down by 5-6 degrees. Which previously used a 120mm Mad Dog at 40%.

Not sure about the soltek board. But I have the DFI LanParty UT nF3. It has 3 fan headers that all use Speedfan. You can also use its Smartguardian hardware monitor which controls the fan to turn off, start, and go full with a certain temperature.

The Zalman and Cooler Master Northbridge heatsinks use mounting holes not compatible with your Intel board. Thanks for the great pics arsenal. You should probably cut out those fan grills and mount your fans using zip ties and rubber washers. Those purple fan holders transmit vibration throughout the case. Should be a piece of cake for someone who's as skilled as you with a dremel.

With 4 hard drives, you probably want to look into some suspension. With the Sonata's (and BQE's) sideways drive cage, it's fairly simple to do. Just string up some elastic, Stretch Magic, or mini Bungee Cords across the bays. You'll be amazed by the resonance it cuts down on.

That CPU duct for the Sonata II looks extremely close to the top of the card slots. Hopefully a fanless video card cooler (Zalman, Aercool, etc) would not interfere with it being mounted properly. A Zalman ZM80C-HP extends about a 1/2 inch from the top of the card.
