[the boxes were delivered with Samsung drives (not sure which exact model, but they were 80G and 120G PATAs) and my sysadmin guys asked Systemax to replace them with IBM-Hitachi drives. The sysadmin guys say that they've had a very high failure rate of Samsungs (about half they claim!).. this conce...

My worry is that I could break my whole farm. That would be "a bad thing". So I probably won't upgrade, unless I find some compelling need to do so. LTSP-4.0 does look really cool though. Ahhh. The voice of reason that I really should listen to. After a week of cursing, compiling, breaking things, ...

I guess the new points system will mean people folding with the google toolbar plugin will get a massive points boost too. Tinkers all the way with google. I don't suppose a huge number of google users hack the registry to fold for their own team, even though the toolbar is a simple way of borging m...

I've only tried the Nexus, but I'm more than pleased with it.
Cheapest UK retailer was Novatech last time I looked. They also do a decent price on the Zalman.

If you're going with Noiseblocker fans I would get the 120mm SX2 Pro Blacksilence. It is as good as inaudible at 5v, much better than the SX1. The 80mm S3 isn't all that quiet. I have a few S2's which are pretty good at 5v. For the intake on a sonata (or should I say to cool the hdd) and S1 would pr...

Well it took me about 10 hours last night, but I eventually managed to get Gentoo installed and running. I followed the install guide on the web as best I could. My kvm switch got a good work out at least :). I was flicking between machines virtually every 30 seconds to check the next step then type...

Thanks guys. Seems like the newest releases are best left to those who can sort out the odd problems. I'll have to have patience and try Gentoo again. I think it was acpi I added to the kernel last time that killed it. Just go for the minimum this time and get it working. And I've always got Mandrak...

Linux help needed !!
I decided to post here since my linux box will be folding 24/7 once it's up and running :) Over the last few weeks I have downloaded and tried 3 different distros - gentoo, mandrake 10 and fedora 2 beta 2 (1.91). I just about got gentoo installed a few weeks ago, then trashed the kernel putting in s...

Strange error in fahlog.txt
Just seen this in fahlog.txt on one of my clients [15:37:23] - Calling 'FahCore_65.exe -dir work/ -suffix 04 -checkpoint 5 -service -forceasm -forceSSE -verbose -lifeline 1620 -version 400' [15:37:23] Folding@home Client Core Version 2.52 (February 10, 2004) [15:37:23] [15:37:23] Proj: work/wudata_0...

Has anyone tried the AOpen MK79G-N?
If I can't guarantee getting any more v1.0 (or the new 7.2) Biostar M7NCG-400's then this was my next best thought for a mATX nForce2 board. Would be nice to have confirmation that it can under/overvolt before buying though.

I moved up to green after turning in 5 of them on Monday. Just missed the 1k day with 922 points. Still doubles my previous best day. And David didn't even notice ...  Can't get enough of these for my offline folder. Beats churning though the 18 pointers in a few hours then sitting idle ...

The pro is much quieter than the blue ones. From the specs: SX2 Pro Blacksilence 12-26 dBA at 5-13v, 64cfm @12v SX2 Blue 18-34 dBA at 6-13v, 40-70 cfm Unfortunately I can't see airflow at 5v for the Pro listed anywhere for comparison. However, at 12v the pro pushes 64cfm @ 26dBA and the blue 70cfm @...

I have the SX2 Pro Blacksilence 120mm Noiseblocker fan. Very happy with it. I don't have any of the others you mentioed to give a comparison though.
The specs you listed are for the standard SX2 which I think will be too loud.

Perhaps I should have been more explicit:
Code: Select all
open server.com
kemokim
1234
get FAHlog.txt D:\logs\1\FAHlog.txt
close
open server2.com
kemokim
1234
get FAHlog.txt D:\logs\2\FAHlog.txt
quit
