Would my 4870 cooler fit a 5*** series card?
I have modified my Zalman GV1000 cooler, and it is now silent. However, I am thinking about switching to a 5850 as some of the newer games I play could run a little better.
However, I dont want to stick to a stock noisy cooler, so wanted to swap my current cooler over - but would it fit?

Kaze Server can be set in three modes: Manual: full manual control of fans from their lowest speed to highest Semi: set minimum speed of fans and then a temp threshold, when the temp goes over that threshold, the fan speeds increase to bring the temp back down below threshold. Auto: as Semi, althoug...

I think what I will do now is cut some of the foam that came in my motherboard box (dark grey) and duct tape this over the vents from the inside. I will then stick some Akasa Paxmate over the back of it, and actually cover the rest of the panel with it. Unfortunately I can only easily get hold of Ak...

I was thinking up a plan to try when I work on my case next (have some new S-Flex E's on their way). What I intend to do is cut a piece of wood or plastic that is large enough to cover both vents. Drill small holes in where the fan screw holes would be. Use stick on type draft excluder around the wo...

I have just ordered some more goodies: Intel X25-M 80GB SSD for OS 3 Scythe SFF21E fans to fit in the top and bottom bays as I used to run with the coolermasters, but they will run at minimum speed and only kick in when needed. I have a 1 into four fan cable that I am hoping will allow me to run all...

I have a pair of 1650s running at about 990rpm. They are the loudest part of my system now :( I run 2 SFF21Es and a Kaze Slim 1200 - all running at between 660 rpm and 1000 rpm and the GTs are noiser. It sounds like a motor noise rather than a wind noise, and you can definately hear the motor kick i...

Any personal experience with a Phenom 965 c2 and an H50
I am currently on a quiet air system - Zalman CNPS10x Flex with Scythe Slim 120 and S-Flex E in a push/pull configuration. I have been contemplating buying an H50 to try in my system, but have been put off by the posts about it being noisy. Does anyone actually have an H50 or has had one running wit...

Noise level of a Coolermaster v10
Anyone know how loud / quiet this cooler is?
CM rates it as 17dba - but am guessing that is an exageration
I understand it uses TEC to help cool the cpu when it gets very hot.
Any ideas?

Blocking off side vents
My CM690-II case has two 140mm side vents. I have no fans mounted there, and they are obvious escape routes for sound. I currently have them blocked off with some bitumen style sound deadening material (mounted on the outside of the case) as a temporary measure and have noticed pretty much no change...

Thanks for the feedback. I am a bit of a brand fan  - I use Scythe for my fans, Zalman for coolers etc, and I am currently running Corsair for my PSU and RAM, so I may stick to Corsair for the SSD - unless thats a bad choice? If I go Corsair, there are even more choices - (prices based on scan...

I have been using Acronis TrueImage for a few years now on servers - especially the universal restore option that allows you to restore an OS to a completely different box with different chipset etc without having to run a repair install. It is a great product. I have since bought 2010 Home version ...

Scythe QuietDrive turned up today - installed - seems to make quite a difference - I can still hear a little chatter, but it is much better than before :) May even get a 2nd and put my 1TB 7200.11 drive in it rather than use it in the top drive bay on my 690-II advanced case. I currently use it as a...
