Unused cables can be a mess and a good bed for dust. Thats why I like modular PSU's. Samsung F2380: brightness-controlled transformator-whine. Only silent if set to 100 brightness, worst at about 30 (loudest mid-freq pitch) to zero (changes to lower freq).
