This one makes the whole "rumor" look stupid - what would be the point of replacing the already existing 650W and 750W versions with 660 and 760W ? None, zero, nada.

Well, my Seasonic X-750 is not making any noise with EVGA P55, neither with now sold Gigabyte P55-UD5. When i had HX620, i had some similar noise, but i was able to hear it only when my ear was directly at PSU mesh. So probably Seasonic X is a solution - but it is a expensive one :).

Yes, but your problem will be then "how to turn on this thing" - as you won't have the 24pin connected anywhere. And it is the 24-pin connector which is used to signal power on from motherboard to PSU.

Yes, you can. Of course you must not go over the watt limit of fanmate (6W). For example i use it for two NF-R8 fans, which use 1.32 W max each => 2.64W total.

It is late, but it was not possible to drop level. 1.1V was the minimum (board didn't allow less with any CPU - Sempron 140 or Athlon X4 II 620), plus i wasn't able to lower it to even less (1.12V was the stable minimum, less and it didn't boot).

So, after replacing the X4 620@1.12V + 785G board + HX520 with the Atom board and Seasonic S12II-330 Bronze the idle power usage (CPU used at 10-20%, one hard drive active, 7 hard drives in standby mode) dropped from 62W to 41W. The only difference between AM2 and AM3 is pins, which identify the CPU as AM3. So all heatsinks for AM2 will be good for AM3 too, since there is no physical change except those pins which doesn't matter for heatsinks anyway.

Actually, what you probably want is Enermax Magma. I'm unsure about their performance on RADs, but they run at 1500RPM with incredible airflow, yet undervolt well (they work with no problems at 3.8-4V - 500-600RPM, unsure about starting voltage). No the cheapest ones, but neither expensive. http://w...

I'm unsure why do you people stick to the numbers while don't read the text before it - he said "Must be no more than....". That means those numbers = size of the space where he will put this HTPC. It doesn't mean he wants a 80 or 100cm deep HTPC. Those are the limits, not requirements. From those l...

If it would be only that easy  . That board was first used with Sempron 140, which was a 45W part.
