Re: Speedfan sets max speed even when FAR from 'Warning Temp

I have my temperatures set a Desired: 50C and Warning: 70C and RPM limits at 40% and 100%. So if the core temperature is 60C, I want the fans to be at 70% PWM. Then your second speed value should be 70%, not 100%. (100% speed happens at the "warning" temperature anyway, regardless of other settings...

So look at the list of processors AMD makes the last time they introduced a new FX CPU at 95W or below was December 2012. The most interesting one on that list for me is FX-6300 C0 6/3 3.5 GHz 3.8 GHz 4.1 GHz 95 W 2012-10-23 is the A10-7850K the fastest APU they have offered yet? A10-7850K ?? 4 3.7...

Re: MSI A88XM GAMING: Premium FM2+ Motherboard

But exactly this is today's reality: APUs seem to fail for those who game. Assuming that is true with the APU only on the MB is it still true with an APU + dedicated graphics card? If AMD stops making new FX series processors there may come a day when I'll have to buy FM2+ or FM3 socket MB to get a...

Re: MSI A88XM GAMING: Premium FM2+ Motherboard

Lots of games are CPU bound and not well threaded. An Nvidia GTX 750 or AMD R7 250 are within your power range and are still fast enough to be CPU limited in some cases. I'm currently gaming at 1920x1080 but I'll probably step up in resolution when I get my next monitor and I may do that with the e...

Re: MSI A88XM GAMING: Premium FM2+ Motherboard

I currently use a FX-6300 on a am3+ MB, what if any FM2+ CPU equals that in performance? My current CPU is 95W TDP and many of the FM2 CPUs are 65W TDP so if one could equal or beat my FX6300 with a lower TDP that would be another possible plus. I find it odd to think of AMD cpus as a limiting facto...

Anybody know a source for the Glide Stream fans in the US for a reasonable price?

● 800 rpm: SY1225HB12L
● 1.000 rpm: SY1225HB12LM
● 1.200 rpm: SY1225HB12M

any one of those would be better than the old yate loon 1350 RPM I'm still using.

After many years of using my Antec Solo the power button broke. I'm sure that if I spent a bit of effort I could rig a repair. Why bother? I just removed the button and power on the PC by sticking a finger through the button hole to the switch. In my case the plastic square that holds the button in...

Re: Ceiling fan dimmable light bulb replacement (LED or cCFL

The candelabra base is the tough part, and do you really need a 100W equivalent? No, I'd be fine with a truly dimmable 3w led near 3500K (+- 500K) for $5 a bulb. Wake me when one exists. I've got standard medium base bulbs near those specs (E26 base 3W 3000K bulb by G7 Power on Amazon for $7), just...

Many cards come with stock voltages higher than necessary. Yes for other cards that can be more common, but the 7750 is a 7770 that has already been power limited. The odds are stacked against you that there is any headroom on a 7750 that isn't easily controlled by PowerTune. If you live in the art...

Re: Undervolting a HD 7750

If your goal is to reduce the highest power draw you don't need to use any special 3rd party tool or app. Just go and turn down the PowerTune slider to -20% as seen in http://www.anandtech.com/show/4061/amds-radeon-hd-6970-radeon-hd-6950/9 and you'll cut the max power draw by 20%. I'm seeing what you mean on pricing and availability. Consider this option then

95W E0 Phenom II X6 1045T about $115 (they have it on amazon, superbiiz, tigerdirect, etc)

It's a newer CPU but it's still socket AM3. Just be sure that you have BIOS support for it on your MB.

I'd look at the 7750 or 7770 cards. As to temp at idle anything below 60c is fine by me if it means quiet. If I have to have a fan running on the graphics card then I slow the fan down if the idle goes below 40c. So I guess 40c to 60c idle and below 80c at full load if I can do it at a reasonable no...

[The notion that GPUs can run hotter than CPUs is bunk. They are all made from silicon, which degrades extremely rapidly above about 115C, and very rapidly above about 100C. The real difference is that CPUs are intended to fail very rarely before 10 years of use, while GPUs are expected to be repla...

Well, I don't know if this is what the question was going for but:

Martin Luther King died of a heart attack in 1984

Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated on April 4, 1968

So if the question expected you to notice the missing Jr it's awfull tricky for a bot/not bot determination.
