it's a core 2 duo based Dell. I did NOT upgrade this, it's a factory system. CPUz detects a 2.13ghz C2D. ... It could be because the university loads all systems with a image disc that installs the exact same OS environment on all PC's, they do the same for their Mac and linux systems. So, that's p...

Like I said, it's a Core 2 processor. CPUz recognizes it. I've run the Install.bat, it says it's working just fine, both lines display. The system has the most recent .Net files, it's XP with up to date service packs. Task manager only displays a processor loading graph for 1 core, not 2 like I'm u...

Crime is bad and common, but stupidity is sooooo much worse. Yeah, you're right. The lonely retarded kid down the street is much worse than the murderer on the loose. Try a different angle. Since it's gotten so far off topic, can this thread be renamed to "NIU Shooting Incident" or "Why do all thes...

Re: Senate Votes for Expansion of Spy Powers
I find it interesting that both Clinton and Obama abstained. If they didn't like the program, and didn't plan on using it, don't you think they should've voted NO? It's fairly typical that presidential candidates abstain from voting on controversial issues. Can't be too cautious you know. Yes, and ...

Hi, You obviously like MSI, from prior experience? Just curious why you are ignoring the top-rated $89 base model Gigabyte P35 board (for example). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128059 If it's because you need the 4 PATA ports, you should see how cheap big SATA drives are....

Senate Votes for Expansion of Spy Powers
Senate Votes for Expansion of Spy Powers (68-29 vote) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/13/us/13fisa.html Eric Lichtblau After more than a year of wrangling, the Senate handed the White House a major victory on Tuesday by voting to broaden the government’s spy powers and to give legal protection to ...

You don't need to replace the fans right away. Try 3 or 2 of them on low first, and see if it's quiet enough. If not you can even try with 1 fan or get better fans. You shouldn't limit yourself to Noctua, there are a few other good fans too. Why not Intel P35 chipset? And yes get one big quiet new S...

I've got new machine folding, for a little while at least. It's a dual quad Xeon workstation I'm using at work (2.4 GHz I think). I'd like to test it for "stability" 8) Maybe for only a week or so, but every little bit helps. How can I get all 8 cores folding with SMP and WinXP-64? Do I do it the sa...

Re: The Tata "Nano" -- the $2,500 People's Car
It looks like you can't have a real car for $2500. By "real" I mean one that won't get squashed like a pancake vs. an 18 wheeler or even a large SUV.NeilBlanchard wrote:Greetings,
So, what do you think of the $2,500 Tata Nano?
Maybe they should try for $5000.

Al-Qaeda were (are) claimed to have been behind the attacks and have seemingly not made any requests, or given any (logical) reasons, this is new for a Terrorist group. Re: Sound absorbing curtain
I'm not sure what they have in Bavaria, but if you have hardware shops with cheap foam pads, I'd try that first. You want thick, pourous, and soft. Attach it directly to the inside of the door. Keep adding layers if you need more. Eventually your walls will transmit more sound than your door. If it ...

while the intel CPUs may be faster even at the same clock speed, the average productivity user wont' notice a whole lot of difference.
