I'm not impressed with the STR and random access time values in that HD Tune screenshot. If production drives do not see an improvement, I'll probably skip that series altogether. I'm looking forward to WD's next products based on 500GB platters.

Good news, the Asus board supports concurrent DisplayPort + HDMI (source). DisplayPort + DVI should work as well but that has not been confirmed.

The Gigabyte board should hit US distributors on 11/4 and show up about 2 days later in the market (source).

No, because the IGP does not integrate a TV encoder. You can find this port on some 690G models but keep in mind that the X1250 graphics does not decode HD video.

It's a 4+4 pin cable. You can confirm that with the datasheet on page 4 under "Cables & Connectors":
