Re: Seasonic G360W gold for $60 - Review & Giveaway!
@Backslash Just booted up my new build using the G360. Unfortunately, it seems mine has an extremely loud coil whine that can be heard across the room. In one of my builds, I installed a 380W Seasonic S12II-380GB whose coil whined so loudly that I swapped it out for another PSU. I've read since the...

Thanks for your suggestions. I guess I'll keep on using Magma fan as I'm too lazy to disassemble the computer.

Re: Enermax ETS-T40: Direct-Touch Heatpipe Cooler
I got one ETS-40 cooler before. As Heat Direct Touch cooler often tends to be mediocre in terms of cooling performance compared to traditional cooper base cooler, I'm fine with it. At least, I got it at a very tempting price. To my surprise, I'm shocked by its stock fan's airflow ...... I DO like th...

Interesting to hear confirmation of the tonal noise of the higher RPM Gentle Typhoons. I currently have two of these sitting idle in my box o' fans for this very reason. One of these is the 1850 RPM mentioned in the article, but the other is an 1150, which unfortunately exhibits the ringing tone wh...

Re: CPU stock coolers can be quiet!
I guess it depends on fan bearing ..... I got some 125W AMD stock coolers which has some nasty bearing noise. It's not terribly noisy, but it sounded uncomfortable(hum) for me despite its 1300~1500RPM.

Try to put 10 HDDs as far away from you as possible. I'd recommend NAS storage system or 2nd computer specialized for HDDs storage ...... And Use Gbit Ethernet to reach HDDs from main computer. It's next to impossible to silence 10 HDDs by SPCR standard.

Re: doubt Seasonic S12II-380 <> Enermax Pro82+ II 385W
I wouldn't call Seasonic S12II noisy(~850~RPM), but it is not the King of silence anymore. I found Enermax Pro82, LibertyEco is quieter than S12 ..... not day and night difference, but you can perceive it at midnight. To tell the truth, I hope Seasonic will improve their low-end offerings when they ...

For comparison purpose: I was a bit surprised to learn that efficiency drop is so large. Noise-wise, S12 is ok. Efficiency-wise, it's no no. It's the least efficient PSU in the comparison. I have the 970 Extreme3. 4 out of the 5 fan headers are fully controlable with speed fan. Only "PWR_FAN1" is allways at 12V. Yes. It's probably too late to say this, but 970 Extreme3 served me very well during past 3 months. Other than internal USB3 header, I've no complaint with this board.

Aging might worry me if it were to use for GTX580 SLI. Otherwise, it should be fine for light use like single 6670.

I'm using following parameters for 4850e:
1G @ 0.85V
2.5G @ 1.2V
Sadly, 4850e is antiquated given latest CPU's idle power consumption.

I hope Seasonic would shorten the cable length ..... No one is going to use such a small footprint PSU for bottom-mounted ATX case. Also, I'd like to see 300W SFX Gold coming from Seasonic. Being a loyal 300SFD user during past 3 years, I'd love to purchase a new 300W SFX Gold for my media box.

Hi Lawrence
May I know the PSUs that you're using in the review across the board?
The efficiency loss would play a huge role in power consumption over here. Thanks.

Yes, lots of circumstances may bias the PSU behaviour, even the relevant mounting: I guess that a bottom mounting (currently mine is in a Solo) may change how you can perceive it (on a Solo it can be mount only with the fan facing downwards). As I said, the ErPro80+ is a not so economical well abov...

Re: Existing good and silent PSUs between 300 and 400W?
Recently, I've been using Superflower 350W 80Plus Gold which is quiet at idle (Global 120mm at 700RPM). Can't say much about its full load as I never stress my media box. Except modular cable/fanless cooling, I think it gives Seasonic X400 a run for its money. I bought it less than half of X400 pric...

Highly recommend for people who want silent PSU at a budget price. :D After about four years of service, I retired my 300W Fortron Zen (also because 14A are no more enough on the 12V rail). So, I've given a try to this ErPro80+ 350W: I'm (more than) a bit disappointed, quietness-wise. Summarizing, ...
