I think it will be OK for me to replace my front bezel if I can find another 30cm2 of ventilation. I will get 10cm2 from the standard front bezel mods... It's kind of hard to make out on the pictures, but if you mod the front bezel as radically as I did, you should be set: http://img14.imgspot.com/...

On my silent rig, I have two fans affecting temperatures of the CPU and surrounding components: The HSF and an exhaust fan the HS is ducted to. Normally the system is 24h Prime stable. The voltage I'm running the exhaust fan at is below its starting voltage, though. Once I forgot to start the fan up...

What's the best practical way to use a PSU with a CPU-facing (bottom) intake fan (such as a 2-fan Enermax, Antec, etc or 120mm fan Seasonic, Fortron, Nexus, etc) in a hot system to maximize cooling while keeping the noise level as low as with the best setup using a quiet single 80mm rear fan PSU? I...

if you can manipulate fan speeds why even bother with a seasonic? This is not specific to Seasonic at all. But if you can manipulate fan speed, that's precisely when you want a high efficiency PSU. Because assuming you have a quiet fan (recent Seasonics do), wind noise will be dominating. Unless yo...

There's no "risk" involved. At worst, trying the little PSU will result in instability or failure to boot. I would expect failure to boot if the PSU was grossly overloaded. But if his system is right at the limit of what it can handle (actually, just a little beyond), doesn't the system risk to run...

I'm not good at ballparking component's power use, so I'll leave that for others (my gut feeling is that you should be allright). As far as safety goes, my impression was that while PSUs can very well fry your complete system if (when) they die, quality PSUs tend not to. But the answer is, yes, usin...

There is an interactive pinmod utility here . DISCLAIMER: I haven't used it myself, and don't know if the info there is accurate. I have, however, cut L11 bridges on my Barton as indicated here using the technique lm described. Cutting the first bridge (#4 in that guide) will bring the default Vcore...

Actually, 72% efficiency versus 80% efficiency is a big deal. Say you draw 100W DC. That means that the internal loss in a Superflower would be 100W/0.72-100W=38.9W. In a Seasonic you have 100W/0.8-100W=25W internal loss. So the heat that needs to be dissipated is more than 55% higher in the Superfl...

Ok, I might have to take back what I said. I wasn't familiar with your case and just had a look at coolermaster's website. It looks like there are lots of air intakes on the back and sidepanel. Front air intakes can't really be seen well on the website. But unless you taped those intakes up, this do...

Overclockers Club: the new long-term challenge!
So it seems that we can't escape the Dutch Power Cows and CustomPC. If we finally manage to put Gen[M]ay behind us (looking good right now, but the past ups and downs should remind us to be vigilant), that would still leave us with a chance to remain in the top 20 folding teams in the world . For as...

I'd be very interested to hear how this worked out! Remember that I'm purely speculating here... On second thought, depending on the frequency modes of the case (and the harddrive), you might also want to play with the position of that barrier (at the center, at 1/3, 1/5, 1/6 of the case size...) to...

I believe I've had an Athlon K6-2 266 die after 6 years of use. I haven't formally established that it was the CPU, though, as my motivation to conduct tests was limited: I was mostly happy to have an excuse to buy a new box. I do know it wasn't the PSU or a drive. Might have been the M/B, though. E...

The tube traps take advantage of the fact that in corners of a room the energy of the low frequency sound waves is completely stored as air pressure . Because of their construction, tube traps absorb the pressure variations at those points. I believe it would be very difficult to efficiently dampen ...

If you decide to mod your case, I'd suggest starting with the front bezel. Opening up that air intake may well help your fans (and your PSU) breathing. Concerning the CPU temperature, is that at idle? Those temps are nothing much to worry about IMHO. I'd consider worrying about CPU temps if you expe...

I was thinking about that starting from the configuration I have in my second rig . I already have the CPU exhaust ducted to the outside in there. Ducting PSU exhaust to CPU HSF intake?
I'm serious. Consider a single-HD system with low-power (maybe even on-board) graphics and reasonable powerful CPU. Assume we want to achieve the absolute lowest noise possible (who doesn't?). Given a reasonable choice of components and judicious placement/muffling of the HD, wind noise will ...
