ok, so like this... http://www.nuclearfuzz.com/idvsego/images/option5.png No CPU duct and the lower section is completely cut off from the top as is possible. The cooling setup would consist of the following: 2 YL 120mm fans Mugen 2 with single stock fan Accelero S1 passive on 5830 120mm fan in the ...

I think my first step will be this one... http://www.nuclearfuzz.com/idvsego/images/option4.png Added: an Accelero s1, a Mugen 2, and some ducting. This will take me from a total of 7 fans in the system (including the PSU) to 3. If the temps are too high I still will have 2 YL 120mm fans to place ar...

Yate Loon D12SL-12 vs Nexus D12SL-12
Is there really $9 worth of difference in these 2 fans? The Yate Loon is $3.60 on Jab-tech and the Nexus is $12.99. I have read that there are manufacturing variations and QC issues with the cheap YL fans, but assuming you get a good sample...how much difference is there really? With Jab-tech's stag...

I know it can be modded to fit a 5850, so the 5830 should be fine.

Looking at one of these 2... Accelero S1 rev 2 Scythe Mushashi I have a 120mm fan that blows outside air directly beneath the video card but I am still not sure the Accelero could run in passive mode on a 5830. Since I would have to add some kind of fan, I am leaning toward the Scythe since it would...

basic fan controller?
I had a NZXT sentry 2 and it worked OK...but I just fried it by accidentally pinching the cable in my case and shorting it out. So, I want a new controller. the NZXT was nice but I only got it because it was on sale for $10 at the time. I really only need something that will drop the fans down to 5 ...

I already own all of the components, including the drives. Installing a drive by suspension is the same for either size for my setup, so its no big deal. I'll most likely go with the desktop drive and put the laptop drive in an external case. Those are always handy to have. If the card doesn't run c...

I picked up a sheet of Elmers foam board in black. I liked it because the surface is black but the cross section is foam. should blend nicely inside the case. Was $3 cuz I was too impatient and went to walmart instead of a craft store. http://www.elmers.com/product/detail/951300?filterPath=school-an...

I dont want cardboard for the shallow reasons of aesthetics. I am not concerned withit igniting or anything. If my case is that hot, cardboard is the least of my worries. I could make it from cardboard and cover it in some foam. that would look fine and be cheap and effective. I liek the faom idea t...

I have an antek vsk2000 and was thinking htat if I segmented off the expansion bays and dedicated on intake fan to push fresh air into there, then used the rear ports as an passive exhaust it would imporve the cooling of my video card...assuming i have an aftermarket cooler on there that has an open...

I was thinking...my case has 2 120mm intake fans. I could build a duct/divide for the lower one that would keep the airflow from it int he expansion card area. Then I could remove the slot covers and use them as naturally exhaust. This should allow the fan/fans on the GPU to spin slower and still ge...

I vote strongly against Crossover setup Single 5870 will have better idle and load power stats and less trouble in game titles. And I believe it will come cheaper even with added custom cooling. Funny, I decided on this very thing this morning and was coming back here to find a good quiet cooler fo...

Gaming machine with reasonable noise levels
I am building a new machine for gaming and want to keep the noise levels fairly low. I hesitate to say as low as possible because I know my budget will force some constraints. Here is what I am thinking right now Case: Silverstone Raven 2 ($160) - rotated motherboard and improved fans reviewed well ...

Suspension VS foam
I have done a couple of suspension mods and been happy with them so far. My current setup uses 2 vertically oriented 3.5 drives suspended beside each other in the upper internal 3.5 drive bays of my Antec VSK-2000. They are already VERY close to the front fan but I have managed to get them securely ...
