Perhaps because the FSP Zen 300W has problems starting with some low-powered systems, like mine. I did buy one to replace my audible S12 430W only to find that it wouldn't start. I did manage to start it by connecting two high-power fans. It would continue to run even after the fans were disconnecte...

I guess you can subtract one from "Works fine" and instead add it to the pile of failing Phantom 350W's. Mine just died after little over a year in service. S/N: D05020045081 Ordered 05-10-11 from webhallen.com in Sweden. My system has been powered on 24/7 for quite a while and I noticed that one ti...

I wonder if this PSU suffers from the same design flaw as the Tagan TurboJet 1100W

Read this review. It also uses two transformers, but they use the same transistors to drive them!

I don't think it's a very wise decision from consumer standpoint to buy 24" iMac. Simply because monitor is integrated into computer block and you cannot reuse the screen once computer gets too old. Think about it, 24" is very nice and can serve for many years and outlive several hardware upgrades....

This is beginning to look more and more hi-tech. But I still have to say it. The results from SPCRs test bench are with few exceptions the only results that I trust, both regarding efficiency and noise, and now performance (ripple) too. I was wondering one thing though. Is it possible that you could...

Looks like I've got some testing to do, then. Do you know whether the chime was caused by the rotation of the fan or something related to the actual electronics (either inner or cables etc.)? Did you try to point the fan up? Just having a hard time believing that it could be the reason why. Althoug...

I got a similar chime/whistle in my P180. It was very directional and was only heard at a slight angle from the front. I found out what it was. It actually was my PSU. A S12 430W, mounted with the fan downwards. I swapped it for a Phantom 350W and the noise was gone. A real expensive solution and no...

I've tried both the Schooner and the BeQuiet! Polar freezer on my GFX. I got similar temps, the Polar freezer a degree or two better. The external part of the Schooner isn't really helping much. The fins are way to narrow apart to allow any convectional cooling. What is most interesting though is th...

If i were you, here is what I would have done. This is just a recomendation. Case: Antec P150 with stock PSU. Way better than the Sonata in every possible aspect except price. CPU HSF: Ninja with Nexus 120mm. Other than that it looks okay. Be sure to buy a 120mm Nexus fan for your case, and perhaps ...

Using a waterblock shouldn't be too hard. If someone could manufacture a "standard" waterblock, like a square one with a slightly smaller square riser on top, you could custom make a bracket for it. Then one could hook it up to something like a Zalman Reserator and have a quiet xbox, though with lou...

I am very disappointed with Zalman and very satisfied with the review. This was one of the heatsinks, together with the AC Alpine that I had thought of as useful in a low noise, low profile HTPC (the NSK2400 for example). Too bad both of them are really poor performers. Atleast the Alpine is quiet (...

If this is a recent article, I am not very impressed with the autors choice of several old "silencing" components. The Sonata and 7700 are simply just outdated.
But it showed that his gaming rig was more quiet than the P150 and P180? Running the intel stock 775 HSF with all case fans on max, surely!
