Maybe I am missing it, but does the review talk about boot times?
I missed that too, the one thing that excites me about UEFI

Love the power consumption charts, though

Re: X-400 buzz noise

Just got the x-400 and it too buzzes, it is only audible from 20 centimeters or so, but it drives me crazy, even when sitting further away I seem to hear it, although it is probably imagination or tinnitus. After much research it seems they all have it, but most people just can't perceive it, like w...

Re: New sub 18 dB i7 build. Fan questions and Critique

Get an external DVD drive, then you wont have annoying boot clicking sounds, and save power when you dont need it. I also only use external HDDs for storage, and a SSD for normal use. Rarely need to access storage. For Graphics, how about some of the Powercolor Go green cards. They are passive and e...

Re: Sandy Bridge, Part 1: Intel GMA HD 3000 Graphics (Update

Totally agree on the IGP issues. Where is the sense in putting the HD3000 only into the overclocker CPUs where they CANNOT BE USED ANYWAY, I mean WTF...even when the Z boards arrive, how many people beside me will buy a K-CPU and not get a gamer graphics card.

Re: Quiet / Noisy Monitor Survey

LG Flatron 226WTQ-SF: Complete silence at 100% brightness, can't even hear anything when holding ear close to backside. BUT...lower the brightness even 1 point and the humming starts...getting louder, the lower the brightness, which immensely annoys me because the monitor uses 40 watt at 100% bright...

Re: Recommend a quiet gigawatt or higher PSU?

Are you sure you need a gigawatt? Maybe a Megawatt will suffice? You could get a windmill in your backyard, they supply about 0.5 to 2.5 megawatts. But if you really need a gigawatt (or more!) you can just get a thousand windmills. One goes for only a million dollars per MW, roughly.

Re: Q's about Intel, integrated graphics, TDP, and silence

Background info: I have a comfortably quiet PC built with a C2D e8400 which I run on passive cooling. At 3.16 GHz and 1.06 v it maxes at 55 C give or take a degree of ambient temperature. I also run an AMD 5770 passively in this system. However C2D is starting to show its age and I'd like to replac...

Re: Cases for fanless operation

I am wondering what cases are suitable to run a system at least in idle mode at 0rpm? I don't think there's a universal answer to such a generic question. Just for example, I run since more than two years an Antec Solo with a slightly overclocked Core 2 Duo totally fanless: a TR HR01 as cpu heatsin...

Cases for fanless operation

Hello, I am wondering what cases are suitable to run a system at least in idle mode at 0rpm? With those new 35 watt I3 CPUs coming, onboard graphics and a fanless PSU it should be easily possible to run fanless in idle right? For stress times or high summer one can always plug in case fans and activ...
