I feel retarded. Somewhere within the Catalyst Control Center is PowerPlay, which is what makes the 38x0 idle low. Kinda silly that AMD has a processor driver that includes the power management stuff and "ATI" requires CCC on top of it's driver to do it. My idle is down to 84 now. Much better than 1...

I saw the same article on TomsHardware and that got me thinking :) I think I read somewhere that the 38x0 cards might lower their clock speeds at idle? Is that how the idle speed gets so low? [edit] I found ATI PowerPlay, but I haven't seen how to turn it on or what not. I'm thinking this probably c...

High Idle Power Consumption?
I was wondering (for any of the power consumption gurus out here) if my power consumption at idle seems on the high side. Case: Antec Fusion V2 (with VFD on) Power Supply: Corsair HX520 CPU: AMD BE-2400 (stock) MB: Abit AN-M2 HD RAM: 2GB Geil Esoteria (stock) HDD: Hitachi 200GB 7K200 laptop drive We...

I used the same drive silencer and it's silent compared to pretty much anything else I have (PS and the Nexus Fans). Although, I bought mine from here

For someone who doesn't want to remove the plastic stuff (not can't, I've done it before, just... I want to leave it as is this time), which of the four adapters is it? I can't tell between C and D.

bringing this thread back to life to hopefully figure out what's going on. I have the Dell/Delta 220w brick and I made an adapter for it. I soldered the trigger to one of the grounds, soldered the three grounds to a single 16 AWG wire, soldered the three powers to a single 16 AWG wire, and then sold...

A Cubit 3 has the dimensions: 147mm(H) x 210mm(W) x 210mm(D) That makes it a total of: 6.4827 L It doesn't however use a full size CD/DVD drive, slim slot load only. It does allow for a full sized hard drive though (and I'm hoping to slide in a laptop drive with it). Graphics card space is also at a...

I missed an important detail about your initial post; it's your first! So here it goes: Welcome to SPCR :D ! [/size] Thanks. :) As far as the HDD choices, I already have the SP2504 (it was on sale :P). The HD4000LJ and WD5000KS is still on the expensive side even when it's on sale (typically >$140 ...

Why did you choose the mobile Intel? Power consumption and cooling purposes. It'll be easier to passively cool a mobile Core 2 Duo vs. a desktop Core 2 Duo. Its a difference of 65w TDP vs. 34w TDP. Since I'm getting an Intel employee to buy it for me, an E6600 and a T7200 will both be ~$150. I have...

Looks a lot like the build I'm trying to put together. I still have a few components left, but this is my current idea: Hoojum Cubit 3 (147x210x210. http://www.hoojum.com/new/html/more_c3.htm) Commell LV-677 (non-DC. I prefer to control the power limitations :D The AC/DC adapters top out at 150w and...
