Right, that it. NullObject, I command you to beat the voodoo druid necromancing wizard goat lover (aka peteamer) into the top 100. This has a potential to evolve into a very technical thread. /me applauds for NullObject's great knowledge of sysinternals :D Sorry, I tried to minimize the technical. Unfortunately such knowledge is a side effect of my work. I agree with you Pretzel and that was my point...it all depends. I bought...

I have 2 160g Samsungs and I love them. Actually, I love 1 of them, the other I have to RMA, but its completely my fault :? The samsung is extremely quiet. I usually can't hear it on seeks. Before I bought my second one, I picked up a couple of the Seagate 160s on an impulse at CompUSA. But then I r...

It's a bit deadish there these days.. :? It seems that your taunting woke them from our slumber. I need some time to recover from The Attack of the Come Hither Bea Arthur's . Liquid Ninjas servers were moved. Their IP address also changed so the problem should go away when your DNS server's entry for them is updated. Until then, their new IP is http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=10359

Roger on Geordie's suggestions. I posted over at 2cpu.com and recieved some good advice. There is plenty of info in their forums. The PC-DL Deluxe is the only overclockable Xeon mobo. Just make sure you get rev1.05, earlier versions don't have a AGP/PCI lock. Another possibility on mobo is the Iwill...

One interesting thing about this Intel blade - it uses considerably less electricity! I was seeing numbers as high as 160W on the Biostar M7NCG/2.3GHz Barton. With the same psu and the Asus board/3.1GHz P4, I am seeing 120 watts. Those 40 watts will factor into the price/performance equation David ...

Quiet EPS psu? Or share how theirs sound?
I'm about to build a dual processor comp and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a quiet EPS psu? Also, if you have an EPS psu, please post how it sounds and what, if any, modifications you made to it.

In doing some reading about overcocking one of my boards, SATA was pointed to as a limiting factor, so I'd say it was possible. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it. I did some more research. It appears that SATA, especially Intel ICH5R controllers, do not like to be run out of spec....

I agree with Isaac, but for what you want it for, it sounds like the Xbox might work. I would think that for a reasonable amount more, you would have a much better computer/media player. Also how much media you want to store might be a question. Initially, I thought 160g would be enough. But I decid...

Without being able to overclock this blade, it has no chance in the world of being competitive with my 2500+ Barton boards, which are overclocked to 3200+, on a points per dollar basis.
