Fan Ducting

Why don't more people do it? Instead of sticking a big extra fan on your Zalman, why not just duct it to the bottom fan on a power supply? All you with the FSP300 with the 120mm fan might consider this. Why not establish a power supply thermal zone, like the Dells do, by ducting the PSU's air intake...

What does 'Clicking' sound like?

Which of these is a better description of the phenomenon of 'clicking'? A. In my brother's computer, there is a Sunon vacuum cleaner 92mm (still waiting for stupid Directron to send the correct fan that I ordered). When the power button is pressed, the fan starts with a noise that goes "a--a--a-a-a-...

The KCZ-2700L is pretty freaking quiet. The one I stuck in my brother's computer is inaudible over the hard drive whine and ThermalTake Purepower 360W (which is much quieter than my 365W enermax, though not silent) when you unplug the Sunon 44CFM vacuum-cleaner in the back of my brother's computer. ...

So that means all us DIY Hi-Fi guys are nuts worrying about +3/-3dB blips in our frequency responses, and the useful-frequency cutoff for our bass in our woofers and subwoofers should be -10dB and not -3dB?

Yeah, Directron sent the wrong fan, but we'll get that cleared up now. The Nexus quiet CPU cooler (with a Y.S. Tech 60x15mm 3000RPM fan) is really, really quiet. Right now instead of the Papst fan, I have a Sunon vacuum-cleaner in there, and even with that unplugged, the CPU fan is quieter than the ...

I have an nVidia Riva TNT2 that has a dying fan on it, and I am looking for the Zalman ZM17CU as a passive replacement, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I don't want to pay $30.00 for a heat pipe for this thing, because it will probably go in a dedicated game server and I would rather drop thos...

Bench Test: ?

Well, today was certainly a surprise. I recieved most of the parts for my brother's computer (the three things missing: the cpu fan and case from endpcnoise.com and the monitor which had to be drop-shipped.) I hooked the power supply up to my computer and also added the Papst 92mm 3412 NGL. I booted...

Probably Stupid Idea

Could I possibly get a Zalman Flower cooler and then just run my two rear case fans straight over it, possibly with a duct of some type?

Zalman ZM80A-HP on GeForce FX 5600 or Radeon 9600?

Will the Gainward 256MB GeForce FX 5600 have the proper mounting for a Zalman ZM80A-HP? I am currently deciding between this and a 128MB Radeon 9600, and the only deciding factor now is if the passive heatpipe will go onto it.

I only need this thing to be as quiet as one of the new Gateways. If I were making something that would go in my room personally, I would probably get a small case, use a Nexus 300W (FSP-based) PSU and Papst fan in the back, a Zalman Flower Cooler with Papst 92mm fan, and that would be it.

Enermax "Whisper"

I have found that the best way to keep my Enermax 350-watt PSU quiet is to use it in conjunction with a pair of slow case fans. My dual Vantec Stealths at 5V in the back of the case help to keep that noisy little "Globe Fan" down to about 2000 RPM. The bottom fan on the PSU ejects a good deal of hot...

Question: Where you are talking about the noisy power supply, are you talking about the big 480-watt Xaser-edition (W0013) or the 360-watt version (W0007) with the fans that only spin up to 2400RPM at 80 degrees C? In the post directly below the first one, I make a note that I am not using the 480-w...

Slight change: After reading OC Cafe's review of the Xaser power supply ("...louder than I would tolerate in a PSU..."), and revisiting my own bad experiences with Tt's Smart Case Fan II, I am going to instead choose between the Tt Silent Purepower 420W and 360W PSU which have much slower-spinning S...

GX260 SFF

I have a friend that does his homework, and the SFF Optiplex GX260 is the quietest case/cooling design that Dell sells. I know that on the CPU, Dell has gotten rid of the axial fan in favor of a centrifugal blower, built by NMB. The blower sit on top of an Alpha-like heatsink and pulls air out, rath...

My Silent Endeavor (and a Couple Questions...)

I am building my little brother a computer. I am shooting for a quiet, low-noise (not necessarily silent or fanless) design because I don't want to be able to hear that thing across the hall buzzing away while I'm trying to sleep or study. If you would, please take a look at what I have specified he...

Look for an amplifier with a switching power supply instead of a linear one. BASH is a switching-power-supply amplifier. The MegaWorks is also a pretty decent system as far as sound fidelity goes. slightly off-topic heat or no heat, that DSS80 has great bass thanks to the wOOx-technology passive radiator. Thermaltake W0013 Xaser-Purepower 480W

Has anyone had any experiences with this power supply? Thermaltake makes the audacious claim that these power supplies normally put out only 17 dBa. I am going to use this power supply in a PC for my brother, and I am trying to keep its noise as low as possible. I am using the Nexus CPU fan and the ...
