I never see SPCR on the sending or receiving end of such linking webs. Is this at all related to purchased reviews? i.e. other sites are getting paid to link to articles? Most SPCR reviews are mentioned at [H]ardOCP's Mods & Ends (a part of their news). Sadly, I've seen only a few links at other we...

When the noise stopped, the message on my monitor says: "PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable. PXE-M0F: Exiting Nvidia boot agent" The message is the network adapter trying to do a network boot. #1: It might be a good idea to include the registry entry that allows it to start at boot Having a shortcut in the Startup-dir makes it easier to temporarily disable the automatic starting -- just drag the shortcut out from the Startup-dir. A registry key requires more tinkering IMO. [One can disab...

Power the Fan Mate from 5V rail; it outputs ~3.5V. Or use two Fan Mates (or a Fan Mate and another fan controller), if you need to tweak the fan between 3.5-5V. Here's how to do it.

First, let's do the welcome: Welcome to SPCR, tlinna! You really have to suspend the HD. The removable drive cage really amplifies the noises from the drive (both idle and seek). Here's an idea to utilize. This way it'll be in airflow path and still cool nicely (with similar mod on my Antec 1030B I ...

I'll chime in with the others: If the fuse is actually blown, it's normally a sign that something broke inside the PSU . All properly made PSUs have over-voltage/current protection on the main rails, and the breaker is auto-reseting (user just needs to power-cycle the PSU). I've been in a situation ...

Low power consumption on standby (<1W) What does this mean? Normally the computer uses little power even if the computer is turned off (+5VSB rail). I haven't measured it, but it's more than 1W. Or does it mean that in "standby" the PSU circuitry uses <1W to generate the necessary power for the +5V...

The "problem" here is that the motherboard needs to "calibrate" (actually set a new offset for the reading) the temp sensor with NewCastle core. This is not required with Clawhammer core. Hardmounted to the drive cage I had 31°C (no fan). All SMART temps. Room temp 20-22°C. That 46°C of yours sounds like a bit too high for ...
