thanks for an xlnt thread, and thanks to mikec for contributing to it. i have several nf-p12's, they are a nice fan with a killer warranty, but for cpu use the thermalright ty-14 has been the best i've tried... even quieter than the stock mugen2 fan, but i don't have cooling comparison data between ...

While few cases have a designated path of airflow, this case seems to simply lack any path, mostly because there are too many vents for fresh air to enter, without letting already warm air out anywhere. "The Antec LanBoy Air is an amazing product for the serious enthusiast, with a unique, functiona...

The cards in the Antec 1200 case has higher temps on both cards, and higher fan speeds. The whole system is also 4 dBA louder. perhaps you'll recall the claim that i made earlier: " heat rising can't overcome airflow, so it's irrelevant "... which we can now all agree was a correct statement, thank...

I'm not doubting that your solution works... for you. But you yourself said there was a 10*C difference between the top and bottom video cards. The Fortress FT02, and indeed any vertical case, doesn't have this problem, simple as that. if the vertical layout is so superior, why did the horizontal a...

In SPCR's own test of the FT-02/RV-02, a Crossfire X setup with 2 HD4870 cards have a temperature difference between the cards of 4*C apples to oranges... that old data still has some good value for a stock p183, but i didn't post a stock p183. i posted a case that can be easily and cheaply hacked ...

whereas for example in a horizontal case, the hot air coming off the bottom GPU is going to be sucked into the top GPU. all of that air is under pressure from the gpu cooling fan, it's not rising because of the heat... it's being blown out on all sides of the video cards... plus, i have a fan blowi...

i bet that i have spent $75 or more on top-notch fans, but now that i know what i'm doing, it could be done for a lot less :-0 these days i'd be looking hard at fitting those $15 thermalright ty-140's into the case, they weren't on the market when i started this project. heat rising can't overcome a...

i have that siver arrow cooler, it rocks, and i really like the fans... you could hook all of 'em up to the pwm cpu fan controller, although you'd probably have to build a custom power cable. you won't need to replace the hdd/psu fan on the bottom, and it looks like the adapter probably wouldn't fit...

i really like the positive air pressure setup on the ft 02, but for what i do, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages: 1) ft 02 costs ~$75+ more than a p183 2) for serious overclockers, the non-standard rotation of the coolers may slightly lower the overclocking capability of the cpu &/or video c...

Re: CPU / Mobo stress tests (Prime95) and random errors
Hi all! I'm currently tweaking voltages on a Athlon II/785G combo: in these occasions I'm used to test the stability running Prime95 and FurMark at the same time in torture/stability mode, while SpeedFan takes care of temps and fans. testing all of the subsystems at once serves no logical purpose, ...

For example, the USA has approximately 20-30 million illegal aliens who walked across the border (mostly from Mexico). "The drop has contributed to an 8 percent decrease in the estimated number of illegal immigrants living in the United States, from a peak of 12 million in 2007 to 11.1 million in 2...

the solo looks good, and it is solidy built, but it's an obsolete design, get something more modern. the solo that i had wouldn't allow for inspecting the 92mm air filters for dust accumulation, because there was no door there, you have to remove the side panel to unsnap the front panel... it's an i...

some wd blacks could be louder than others; the 2-terabyte wd black that i have seems louder than the 1-terabye version, but it's also about the fastest consumer hdd on the market... speed vs. noise, how fast do you want to go? i'm guessing that the two 90mm fans at 1300 rpm could be one of the bigg...
