affordable damping material
There's this acoustipack kit at endpcnoise but it is for about $80!!! This seems like an insanely expensive product and not worth the money. Where else can I get damping material from? Would my local hardware store have damping material that i can buy?

Cnq disabled. Fan voltages adjusted thru rheobus so mobo isn't changing fan voltages. Fan voltages were kept at the same voltage throughout testing. I have a scythe ninja so your hypothesis for the heatpipes is applicable to my setup. (Un)luckily I don't have a non-heatpipe cooling solution to test ...

He mentioned in the article that temps are something that shouldn't always be taken for their face value as long as the system is stable. My temps hit a maximum of 62C, measured from PCProbe; if this temp is adjusted according to my findings, it is just within my Tcasemax of 49C (the maximum temp my...

esata = sata?
I have a 74gb raptor and my a8r32 has an esata plug. Is there any way that I could put my HD far away from my computer and achieve no performance loss. I was thinking of getting a cable that converts esata to sata and also a sata power cable extender that's at least 6 feet long to allow me to put my...

Pardon me for bringing up an old topic but I've recently noticed my overclocked opteron 165 temps on my a8r32 and they seem extremely high and unusual according to some of my friends that have an overclocked opteron 170. After performing the mentioned tests in the article, it seems my mobo is misrep...

Personally, I don't find the vf900 @ 5v that loud at all. My two nexus 120mm @ 9v hide the sound of the vf900. Numbers often times corrupt the actual sound of the fan. In fact, i find that my soft mounted nexus 120mm @ 12v are loud because the hum of airflow is more annoying to me than the motor noi...

New Nvidia 7950 gx2
Basically a dual slot sli config of two 7900 gts. Great! More heat and more noise - just what we need. And I wonder if nvidia was thinking, how are aftermarket coolers going to fit!

I'm sorry but I must disagree. I have a vf900 on my 7900gt in a p180 meaning bad vga cooling but the vf900 manages to keep my o/ced video card below 52C at all times - gaming or idle. This is with the vf900 on 5v. I have the graphics card o/ced to 565/1660; considering that case temps stay at around...

74gb Raptor Temps
This is an older revision raptor, the FLCO. According to the Smart monitoring, running disk defragmenter my temps reach around 46C. My temp monitor from my vantec nexus an controller/temp monitor measures temps reaching as high as 49C. Are these temps within range for a seeking raptor?

I have an opty 165 overclocked to 2.61 ghz at 1.4 vcore and the temp hits 57C under two instances of prime95. during normal usage, there is possibly no way of fully loading both cores so under normal "load" my temps hover around 49-53C. Idle temps are 44c in my "silent" config. With the top fan on a...

No I used the Asus backplate Asus screws Ninja BLACK Heatsink holder thingy What kind of fans do you have because I have a ducted ninja running with 2 nexus 120mm on it. I guess i might not have the problem you have with the cpu not making contact but I'll try removing the scythe one day and using t...

Re: Similar problem elsewhere
Concerning the thread, I seemed to have used the stock screws/stock backplate iwth the a8r32 mvp. Is that the wrong way to do it because my temps do seem a bit high? 40C idle and 55C load.Firetech wrote:Have you read this thread

I have exactly the same setup as you: a scythe ninja, opty 165, and a a8r32. I used the stock backplate and the screws that came with the mobo. Okay this is a little better but it's also a little noisier with the top vent open. With the ninja ducted and with a top fan blowing air into the case rather than out. Recently I pulled my case a little out and started the front tricool and put it on low. It seems that I have a slight airflow problem because there isn't enough fresh air. As a result I opened the top vent and made the fan push in fresh air which lowered temps about 2-3C I also ducted the heatsink w...

I haven't used any damping. I have to advise you however that if you live in CA temps will stay pretty high.
