Re: Sizegrade advice
For the late 1155 Z77 itx boards, you could fit something like a Coolermaster TX3 (92mm fan) without blocking the pciE slot. Might be possible with the Gigabyte also. The Hadron Air can be made running quiet, but you shouldn't expect it to cool an oc'd i7 and a 770 noiseless. As long as you do not u...

R7 250 is being tested to reach nearly the same results as a 7750. So nothing really new here, except some marketing guys creating a fuss about "new" AMD models.

Dell has anounced a new 4K TN display for around 700$.... and this one can do a whooping 30Hz@4K.
Can't imagine someone seriously buying a 30 Hz display.

Re: Looking for small footprint Mini-ITX case that holds 6 H
The closest ive found are the Fractal Node 304 cases and the Lian Li PC-q08 which holds 6 HDDs, but are over 300mm in depth That's about all what current market holds for you. You'd have to build one yourself, i'm afraid. You might get away with a combination of small itx case with external SATA/SA...

Re: 4K Graphics Card
Whichever card you'll buy tomorrow, by the time we all can afford a 4k display, this card will be totally outdated.
My take would be to buy a card that drives 1080p well enough and when i finally really buy a 4k display, i know i must have the budget for a new card too.

What have you used, either fabrics or rubber for that suspension? I used a thin rubber like "rope" from our lokal DIY store and four small strips of metall with two holes, one screwed to the HDD and the other used to fasten the elastic rope. Well, I can pick the QS200 Lite (I mean it should miss th...

I have build a couple of Q200 systems. But not those Ace cases. Managed to fit an ETS40 from Enermax, but the clearance is really tight a few mm to the side panel left. HDD mountig is decent, if you have a drive with low vibration, but if you tinker a bit you can suspend 1 HDD getting rid of the ori...

It seems like MS has listened: Microsoft has announced the Windows XP end of support date of April 8, 2014. After this date, Windows XP will no longer be a supported operating system. To help organizations complete their migrations, Microsoft will continue to provide updates to our antimalware signa...

The firepros are passive. So what? Do passive cards a) beam the generated heat to Alpha-Centauri or b) dissolve the heat into your case? If it really isn't option a) that your cards do, there might be a connection between passive cards heating up your case and the fan speeds needed for ALL cooling ...

Re: Quiet an old HP laptop
I couldn't find any data of your laptop on HP pages. In general: Fan swapping is not recommended, because laptops tend to be designed around a small thermal budget. You could try and get a spare HP fan, but you do normally have no choice because those fans are hard to come by. If you cleaned all dus...

Re: Switch to Intel for heat reasons?
I have to second thierry here, it sounds like your setup is flawed. Have you tried re-mounting the cooler? Maybe you used to much thermal paste (look around the web for pictures of how much is good)? The HR-2(2) will not provide better cooling performance than an H60! That was my first thought too....

Reagrding SLP: The HP-SLP key is only valid for certain HP BIOS data, i.e. if your proposed refurb systems were ever delivered with Win7 straight away, you only would need a recovery medium from the corresponding HP models. These recovery media come without any key necessary because of the certifica...

Re: Need help with windows process
I did a quick search and found some sources. One case had usbport.sys causing 30% CPU activity. This one was solved through a BIOS update. Might be time to contact MSI support.
Realtek drivers are known to cause spikes too, but your data points at usbport.sys.

Well, now that I feel freed up to use one of the NH-D14's instead, with the ram coolers replaced, I still think having a big heatsink like the HR-22 would work better. It's so huge... it's gotta work better! lol. Especially if I can fit two fans on it. That's exactly the same reason for me to claim...

Re: Best Heatsink, cost not a consideration?
Main GPU is a Radeon 7970 in the MSI version using Twin Frozr fans which runs silent at idle. Give it a game to chew on and it is loud. I haven't figured out how to solve that yet. I was thinking of water cooling, but the risk of leaks has stopped me. That can't be solved completly, even if using w...

As it stands I don't know, I game, and it sure heats up my 8 core 4ghz AMD. I don't think I could have too much cooling for it, even though I don't have any plans to overclock. At 65c it starts causing lockups, so it has to stay cool. I want it as silent as possible. Power consumption or a hint a w...

Re: Best Heatsink, without a budget?
If you have NO budget, you have to stick to stock cooler. That ends your question right on the spot. For everything else: Even if the FRIO had 3 fans, that does tell you nothing about actual cooling performance nor does it tell you something about the noise this cooler will make while performing. Fo...

You might end up selling both 7770 and get a single GTX760 or something from AMD, that will reduce your heat and top dps.
Exactly your problem is the reason for me never to recommend low-end x-fire or SLI.

As it narrows down to bus speed finally, PCIe should always be faster because 900 > 600 regardless oft actual disk speed. YMMV if one or both cannot saturate bus bandwidth.whispercat wrote:Which would be faster (given same capacity and other variables being equal): one PCIe SSD or 2 X SATA SSDs in RAID 0 ?

http://www.noisehelp.com/decibel-scale.htmlWhat is a decibel? Zero decibels (0 dB) is the quietest sound audible to a healthy human ear. From there, every increase of 3 dB represents a doubling of sound intensity, or acoustic power.
So, no, you can't.

Reviews indicate that a passive 7750 will not survive any prolonged gaming action without a case fan.
If you try and go for something less powerful than a 7750, you end up noticing that Haswell HD integrated graphics chomps over all weaker GPU cgards.

Bottom line: If your hardware can't deliver >30 fps, you have to drill down settings, but if it can, the experience is great. No cheaping out on gpu power, though.
