The VID is locked. The specified lower vcore is probably the acceptable range for the package. AFAIK, in order to go lower, one would need BIOS undervolting. You could also mod your VID pinsPalindroman wrote: If I may ask, how come the Meroms don't go below a 0.950v (T5600) and 0.975 (T7400) respectively..

Lowest dividor on intel chipsets is afaik 1:1. This means 400 MHz FSB max if you want to keep your DDR2-800 sticks within spec.Redzo wrote: Go with E6420 as it will oveclock to 3-3.4 very easy. Dont worry about RAM, you can use dividers if you don't want to overclock RAM.

Well, this crumbles if you take this url in accountBeyonder wrote: From that information, the 7600GS has almost the exact same power draw as the 7300GT (actually, slightly less at load), and it outperforms the 7300GT as well.

Well for integrated and the Intel G965, it's just up to how much you trust intel to fix the drivers. See here for the actual situtation. Integrated graphics have 3D abilities for most games in 1024x768.
Otherwise, you could go with a passive discrete card. Do you need HDMI?

After many steps on the wrong direction concerning power draws, there is finally some serious power management available. The 2400/2600 series of ATI clock back quite a lot (and hopefully also scale down the voltage). Idle power draw is even lower than a 7600 GT. Except for the 2600 XT GDDR4 which s...

What are you measuring temps with? I suggest using Speedfan or CoreTemp Oh I forgot, the Core Duo also has the new DTS. Just check with Coretemp. But beware, it's also not as reliable in measuring absolute temperature as ony might think. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=340264#3...
