I don't get it. You state that HybridPower only works with 9800 GTX, then you go on to test with GTX260 and say HybridPower doesn't save power. Well obviously.

The new ATI 4870 is more power hungry than ever. Now would have been a good time to make powerxpress available to desktops.

Well, PCI is a parallel interface and you can split it up with one to two raiser boards. There are sexy mini-ITX case out there that has 2 horizontal slots for expansion cards.

There are Via mini-ITX boards with LVDS LCD connectors that uses the same format as laptop LCDs, it's one of those things that industrial PC workstations use, though i've never tried that out. There's still the powering of the LCD. If you want to try that, tell us how it turns out.

No, I don't think the XP-90 + fan will fit. From the pics we've seen so far, my guess is the total internal height is about 95mm - 100mm, and the CPU cooler clearance around 80mm - 85mm. Plus, ventilation on the top appears somewhat limited and doesn't seem to be positioned above the CPU, so ideall...

Well, yes, i'm aware of those points. But i wonder if they'll support the hybrid power on the 9900 soon enough or if the driver division will just sit there lazy doing jack for months.

If only ATI would make powerXpress for desktop chipset, their cards would be much more appealing to me.

fitting large gaming cards into htpc cases

I want to make a silent gaming machine with nvidia's Hybrid Power motherboard + a 9800GTX. The prospect of a powerful gaming card completly powering off while not gaming is a very attractive idea. Does the 9800GTX fit into the NSK2400? I think it's 10'5 long.

question about [popping] electrolytic capacitors

I have a motherboard that is acting really unstable lately. I recently put an athlon black edition on recently, and even not overclocked it's unstable. I would die more often when paired with tighter timing ddr2 ram, fare a bit better with 5-5-5-15. When i took it out for inspection, i found no popp...

Hybrid crossfire doesn't turn off the discrete gpu, at least according the marketting material, it would be called powerxpress. Hybrid crossfire is just crossfire between igp and discrete gpu.

AMD totally lacks vision. PowerXpress would allow us to put the loudest, most performant radeon into the case and not have it turn on at all until we game. Why the hell would they not think it worth it.

Hybrid Power and powerXpress

Which DESKTOP motherboard or chipset support this, and it has to be coupled with which graphics card? There seems to be no information out there, and plenty of contradictions. 780G was supposed to support powerxpress, but then didn't. Then they said it would at a later time. Does that mean it will b...

You should have done all the installing on your normal hard drive, and then copy over the image to the SSD once every is done. It would have saved write cycles too.

I'd be curious to know what temperatures could be achieved using the Antec Fusion, as it has an airflow pattern which doesn't usually perform well with this type of arrangement.

Any chance of a quick test?
