Re: Cool blog on PC customization for low power use

Turns out that the blogger is (not surprisingly I suppose) a member here at SPCR. He's recently started a thread here at SPCR about this same project: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=64995 I think I'll lock this thread so that the other one can be used to continue this disc...

Re: Seasonic G series - 360W gold for $60

My G-series 360W sample is just as quiet as the one Mike is testing. If I couldn't use a Pico-PSU, the G360 would be my choice for a quiet PC build.

Seeing this: I think I would like HD 4000 graphics at the least, which limits me to one of three i5 CPU's or any i7's from what I can make out on Intel's website ...and this: So, based on that, do you think an i5 will suit me? Re: Seasonic G series - 360W gold for $60

I'm trying a 360 G on a new build right now. The only use it's had is running 12+ hours of Memtest 86+ so far, so it's been under no particularly hard load. It's really quiet, but the fan does run all the time.

That said which is the best 120mm PWM fan for heatsink for SPCR standards? The 800 rpm Gentle Typhoon looks like a can't lose choice. Just plug it in and run it at a regular 12 volts. It is both quiet... and has good static pressure performance. According to the guy at Scythe-USA that I talked to y...

That's the exact reason I still haven't bit on SSDs yet. And the only one I've ever considered buying is the seemingly most reliable of all, the Intel X-25m.

I love the Hitachi 5K500 drives. I bought a buttload of them. I use them as my primary drives in all 5 of my Thinkpads, and have another 4 that I use as external backup drives in the removable optical disc trays.
