Need help choosing a new mouse

After using a Razer Lachesis for several years I want to buy a new performance mouse. However, there are many reports of high end Razer mice malfunctioning within 1 year. Logitech mice tend to whine, so they are not an option AFAIK. I want to buy a mouse in the 80 -100 euros zone, high precision, bu...

Re: 140 mm Glidestream at 500 rpm?

Update: In the meantime I tested a Kaze Maru 1,200 rpm, which turned out to be closer to ~1,300 rpm and only undervolted downto ~900 rpm before stalling, and Aerocool RS12 (13 cm fan with 12 cm holes, 1,000 rpm) which only undervolted downto ~700 rpm and had some motor noise. Today I got a Cougar Vo...

Powercolor passive 7850 announced

Judging by how long it took for their passive 6850 (that I bought and use with a 600 rpm fan zip-tie mounted)
to become available, don't hold your breath for this one.

Re: Anybody do more than a cursory comparison of 720p vs. 10

1. The problem with plasmas is not burn-in, it's image retention. And yes, Panasonic plasmas are still susceptible to it, mine developed some 18 months after purchase, and it was my fault, having watched for too long a TV news channel with a bright logo. It's slowly going away, if I don't watch that...

Which camera app for Galaxy S3?

I am unsatisfied with the standard camera app of the Galaxy S3, and would like to use another camera app. My interest is in taking extreme close-up photos of barcodes and similar stuff and I couldn't get enough sharpness out of the standard camera app. I saw dozens of camera apps available in Play S...

Re: 140 mm Glidestream at 500 rpm?

Kaze Maru 140 mm aren't available anymore. I don't want to use PWM fans, I like the manual control. I use a Scythe fan controller, runs fine with 120 mm 800 rpm Slipstreams, can go downto 600 rpm or even a bit lower. With the 140 mm ones I tested they stall under 600-650 rpm, which is still a bit lo...

Re: 140 mm Glidestream at 500 rpm?

Since I couldn't find any information on 140 mm Glidestream undervolting, I had to buy one myself, and I have bad news. It has the same problem as the 140 mm Slipstream, can't go below 650 rpm (actually this is worse). Does anyone know of a 140 mm fan that can be undervolted until it goes downto 500...

140 mm Glidestream at 500 rpm?

I have a couple of 140 mm Slipstreams at 800 rpm, but they can only be undervolted downto ~600 rpm, which is not low enough for me. For me it would be nice to go down to 500 rpm, since with 120 mm Slipstreams I am comfortable at 600 rpm ( 500 & 14 ~ 600 & 12, sort of). I can buy 140 mm 800 rpm Glide...

Re: AMD HD 6870 the quietest active video card for under $30

The nVidia 560 and 650 are underpowered for newest games IMO. Get at least a GTX 660 (even non-Ti). The Asus and MSI are quiet at idle and load, the Asus Direct Cu II might not fit in some cases, check these reviews: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_660_Twin_Frozr_III/1.html http://www.tec...

Re: 3770K IHS removal and results

Yes it is possible to get rid of the IHS but only if you use watercooling, the waterblock shouldn't break the bare die, while a 1kg heatsink would probably break it. Re: 3770K IHS removal and results

Latest info on delidding Ivy is that the TIM Intel used isn't that bad as many thought, including myself. It's just that it's too thick, for reasons still unknown. I apologize to Intel for calling them scrooges (on the TIM). This leaves open the possibility of an Ivy revision that minimizes the thic...

Re: European Commission against democracy in Romania

On the 12th Of September there was a debate in the European Parliament about the situation in Romania. The European Commission was criticized for its lack of objectivity, especially Bar...

Re: Ivy Bridge VS Sandy Bridge

48C at full load (even if Prime95 is less than 100% load) is low for Ivy Bridge. AFAIK early samples were ~10C hotter.
Is there a new revision of the chip, maybe just a better TIM inside the heatspreader that explains the acceptable temps?

OP, please report back in a few weeks or months if your temps get higher, similar to the ones with the Intel thermal insulator material. According to various posts from people who delidded some time ago, that's what happens, it's only a matter of time. I still wait to read about a quality TIM that c...

The article you linked is so 'unbiased' that it only quoted staunch supporters of the suspended President. They represent only 12% of the Romanian people, while the other 88% are silenced in the article, that's fair isn't it? Since I don't believe that the German press is incompetent, the article is...

I read a lot of blatant lies about Romania in the German press, so I don't care what Der Spiegel writes. Re: 3770K IHS removal and results

IMO if this de-lidding practice becomes popular, Intel has 2 choices: 1. Use a quality TIM instead, and also a thinner layer of it. This would make many knowledgeable customers happy. 2. Make the de-lidding more difficult, in order to discourage the practice. IMO this second option is more likely to...
