My Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane is the 65W version. It's overclocked 10% and running Folding @ Home 24/7. It's currently using the stock heatsink/fan and thermal pad... it's not silent... but quiet enough that I can't be arsed to go to the loft to find an 80L and decent goo to reduce the noise. Pete ...

With a low power CPU no doubt it would work..... Thoroughbred 'B' is not low in terms of heat output. Low heat output chips would probably hamper the effect. My XP2400+ Thoroughbred 'B' and NVidia 6600 thingamee, both overclocked ~10% and running higher than stock voltages, were cooled in the same loop with no pump and no fan..... So, further to my edited post above the current info for my 4400+ is:

Proj 2605 worth 1760 points.
Four Threads
Runtime ~50Hrs
PPH = 35.2
PPD = 844.8
PPW = ~5914

As floffe has already said, you'll be fine on 1GB. 8) My two WU's are using ~120MB each if I'm reading the monitor right. Chip cache can make a big difference depending on the WU. 8)/ :evil: Which is something I forgot when ordering my CPU. :roll: Still at least mine is the energy efficient 65W one...

For the record I'm now running the Linux SMP Client via finstall. AMD 4400+ @ stock (2.3Ghz) 2GB DDR2 With both CPU's at ~96% and running: p1170_p1164_RIBO_H2O_froz p1171_p1164_RIBO_H2O_froz for 574 points each. Am turning 1% in 1/2HR dead, so 50 hrs total per CPU = 11.48 PPH. 11.48 X2 is 22.96PPH ...

Anybody checked the price of a Blue Gene recently? What's it's life expectancy(cost/year)? What's it's daily power requirement in terms of cost? How much air conditioning(cost) does it require? No probs so far on Opensuse 10.2 x64. (Mr. Murphy, please note the 'so far'...) Only PITA is nvidia driver install... it's not difficult, just has to be done... following the destructions at opensuse.org.
