UPDATE:
Seasonic has followed up their Connect PSU with a new version. Linus just did an unboxing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APb_DGj0PFI
Seasonic also released their first case to go with the new Syncro PSU. It looks pretty nifty. https://seasonic.com/syncro/

Re: Fan round up - Best 140mm and 120mm
Would a good exhaust fan have different characteristics from an intake fan? Yes, but exactly what characteristics you want from the exhaust fan depends on the total setup. * If the exhaust fan is to provide all airflow, with no intake fans present, then it should be (relatively) high flow. * If you...

Question about tempered glass
I'd like to use a piece of tempered glass from a section of deck railing as an office chair mat.
Is this possible? Is all tempered glass (e.g. from furniture, shower stalls, deck railing, chair mats, etc) more or less the same in hardness and durability?

Re: Fan round up - Best 140mm and 120mm
But wouldn't an exhaust fan need enough static pressure to blow out through the back grill? I guess some, but aren't exhaust grills typically quite open? Some are, some aren't. A grill type would be more open than say a honeycomb type. Still, I would imagine some fans would be better than others at...

Re: Fan round up - Best 140mm and 120mm
I picked up a Noiseblocker fan recently at a big sale. I haven't got around to installing it yet. Reading the reviews on it talking about how it channels the air flow instead of spreading the air flow out made me think about how a good intake fan might differ from a good exhaust fan. Would a good e...

This review paints a bit different picture: The Best 120mm/140mm Case Fan Shootout, feat. Arctic, BlackNoise, Noctua, and Scythe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUdsTiRmuuU Thanks. That's interesting. TBG uses more data points and holds noise as a fixed variable, which is probably a better way of d...

Seasonic new 'Connect' PSU design
An interesting new design in power supplies by Seasonic that was released a few months ago. It's a fully modular PSU that has the converter/distribution panel attached in a separate module to make cabling more convenient. It's installed by putting the attached module behind the case side panel. Kit ...

Re: Asus P5Q-EM G45 mATX motherboard
I just noticed this thread. I have this board in my computer right now, and it's still going strong. Mike Chin actually built this HTPC computer for me back in 2009. I have a Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83 GHz CPU in it. Mike put a low profile but large cooler on it (I forget what brand), so it never gets hot...

Re: Noctua introduces twin NF-A12x25 NH-U12A CPU cooler
I thought this might be due to the Silent Wings 3 on the Dark Rock Pro being a slightly quieter fan than the Noctua fan. So if you swapped out the stock fan on the Noctua for the SW3, you'd have the better cooling from the Noctua heat sink AND quieter fan? It might... but highly unlikely, when i te...

Re: Noctua introduces twin NF-A12x25 NH-U12A CPU cooler
Abula, just curious, do you believe it would be possible to squeeze a couple of more dBA's and a couple of degrees out of the Noctua NH D15S with a Silent Wings 3 instead of the stock fans? Not sure what you are saying, more dBA's? you want more noise and less temperature? Get some Thermalright TY1...

Phanteks cases at CES. Very nice. I like the P600S the most. Re: CES 2019
I've had my current desktop for ten years, I can probably wait another 6 months. It will be inconvenient, but waiting will likely give me more options. The fact that the 3xxx chips will be backward compatible on the A4 socket is a huge relief, since I recently bought a X470 mobo. I don't game, so I ...
CES 2019
So I watched the AMD keynote today and was a little disappointed with the lack of announcements. It looks like the new Ryzen 3000 series chips are not going to be coming out until the summer. No word on supposed Navi Radeon GPUs either. It leaves me in a bit of limbo, as I had started buying parts f...

Re: One or Two front intake fans?
Thanks. Just thought I'd ask here because Jayztwocents generally recommends placing the fan up regardless of space underneath the case, as he feels the PSU can usually take advantage of cool air coming in from the front intake. Also because with the fan down, the PSU could potentially be drawing it'...

Re: One or Two front intake fans?
That's why I above suggest having intake fans at the front, sealed top and sides, and no exhaust fans but mesh all over the rear. That way the general airflow inside the case will go straight from front to rear while passing all fanned coolers and leave no hot pockets. So you recommend having only ...

Re: Tempered Glass -- Worth It?
Steve Burke from Gamers Nexus says tempered glass helps reduce noise from long wavelength low frequency sounds (e.g. hums from fans, etc), whereas acoustic foam helps reduces noise from shorter wavelength high frequency sounds (e.g. coil whine, high pitch fan noise, etc).
