Speaking of the lower chamber fan, what's the best way to remove this? It looks like it's clipped into place but any attempts to try and slide it out aren't getting anywhere, and I don't want to force it for fear of breaking off the plastic tabs holding it into place. Is it safe to force it, or is ...

When you ran the single-fan test, was the same duct installed? No. Today I unplugged one of the two fans, but left the "off" fan in place. The die temp rise went from 17.0C to 18.4C, at 6.6V (controller minimum) on the fan or fans. If the duct wasn't present with the single-fan test, but was presen...

If you mounted a fan under the fins, the SI-97 is only 75mm tall by itself. For that matter, the SI-120 is only 90mm tall, and the SI-128 is 91.5mm tall. On either of those, you'd have to cut the "support struts" away to allow the fan to be mounted, but I'm sure the heatpipes are strong enough to ho...

How do you cover the PSU hole once the PicoPSU is installed and the regular one is removed? - Chop a rectangle out of something. Cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, carbon fiber, whatever you like the looks of. Cut it to the same size as a standard psu and stick over the hole from the inside. Tape, g...

One possible explanation is that the Freezer is designed to quickly cool the heatpipes down by letting air out on the sides, which is impossible when you duct it. That duct does look like it would stop any airflow in or out of the sides. A single fan, no-duct configuration would almost certainly ha...

Scythe Katana or Katana Cu (but not the new Katana II). Newegg had them recently, they cost about as much as the Si-97 but come with a good, quiet fan and controller included.

I used the shim on mine. The heatsink base rests primarily on the cpu core, and on about half of each of the little black corner pads. It did not appear to be resting on the shim much at all. You could probably get away with skipping the shim as long as you still have all 4 of your corner pads.

I just finished a P180 build, and I chose a NeoHE specifically for the straight-through airflow. I know plenty of people are using a bottom-feeder PSU in the P180 with good results, but a straight-through unit sure seems like a better airflow arrangement for that bottom chamber. At any rate, I'm cur...

I don't have a metric measuring tool handy. Aren't we Americans quaint?

But it looks to be about a quarter inch, which is about 6mm. It's not significantly more space than the space between the mobo and the metal.

Scythe Katana or Thermalright SI-97a are the best coolers available for that processor and a mobo with no holes. -You could shorten the screws by cutting off the tips.

-You could add a stack of washers or some other kind of spacer between the heads of the screws and the inside of the fan corner.

-You could go to the hardware store and buy some shorter, but otherwise matching screws.

Interesting, a very large, very flat heatpipe. I guess this would be mounted on the outside of the case, on the side that doesn't open up. The problem would be how to connect the heatpipe to the sources of heat (CPU+GPU). IIRC heatpipes have to be rigid in order to hold the vacuum inside them. So I...

It's probably just a dumb marketing geek/photographer, trying to show that you can mount a fan anywhere you want, with no mounting conflicts if more than one is used. Note that that is not a pic of the HS actually installed in a system, just a glamour shot for advertising.

Still dumb, though.

There are no holes for mounting 120mm fans anywhere. In fact, Coolermaster's site specifically shows 120mm fans being slid from side to side so one can mount whereever one wants. Re: Best psu for p150

Nothing wrong with a 120mm PSU in a P150. The problem with a 120mm PSU in a compact case, like the P150/Solo, is that the PSU fan and the rear case fan, are in such close proximity, they are fighting each other for the same air, therefore conflict between the fans, leaving both fans not working to ...

I was originally going to go with a p180, but after a trip to Fry's I have been swayed by the p150's stylish looks. The trouble is, the psu that I had all picked out has a 120-mm fan. Try harder. The door is on a hinge that connects to the vented bezel; the bezel is on another hinge. You're only opening the first hinge.

I left the top "spoiler" on just for looks, but I covered the hole from the inside with a piece of black plastic. I chopped the plastic out of a DVD box that originally held an AOL trial disc, but you could use anything.
