Thanks zoob -- hadn't thought of that one. Yeah ... AMD probably wouldn't like it if I don't have the orginal, huh.

But that said, haven't I already voided warranty by using an XP-90? Isn't that out of spec?

This is the one that came with my GT. This is more of a curiosity question...just wondering if anyone's tried anything like it. That's all.

LOL ... some people would say no one in their right mind would suspend a hard drive on tubing or stick their CPU in a water chamber!

What to do with these stock parts .... ???

So, I removed the stock copper fan and sink from my 6600GT (to replace it with the fanles VM-101). I also did not use the stock sink and fan from the AMD +3000 939. So... should I just sell them on eBay? Or... I was wondering if there was some way to put one of them to replace the "whiny" mainboard ...

Wow ... I went away for a bit and look at all the replies! THanks for the input. Based on what you're saying, and based on past experience with my old monitors, I think it's just a CRT that's getting old. THh problem is I got it second hand so I don't know if I have any warranty protection. I guess ...

Monitor Flicker -- Monitor or Card the Culprit?

I recently put together my first silent system from sratch. The VGA part of it is a Msi 6600GT. It is being cooled with the fanless Aerotech VM 101. (I should note that as this is the MSI card, I have still not been able to figure out how to monitor temperature, as it is not included with the MSI Nv...

Ok. I was hoping it was more simple than that -- something I overlooked. But I'll just use the jerryrig methods you suggested. Thanks!

Yes, it uses rails for the CD-ROM drives. What this means is there is only one screw hole from the unit that goes into the rail, meaning nothing will keep the rail from moving around. And there are no corresponding screw slots in the case for the screw holes in the fan control unit (not to mention t...

The XP-90 + VM101 on the GT6600 i nthe MSI Neo2 Platinum worked fine. I just needed to push the fins a little further away from the board. THat allowed space for the Xp-90. The nice thing is, with my 3000B Antec case, the 120mm exhaust fan is right where the VM-101 grates are, so it just sucks the h...

Zalman ZM-MFC 1 Install (I must be an idiot)

So, I've looked all over the site, read the review etc. But I can't find anywhere at all that tells me how to actualy mount the ZM-MFC 1 into my 5.25 slot. I mean, I know how to connect the fans etc, but I don't know how to attach the rails so that they'll stay in place and wor kin that 5.25 slot. I...

What about with K8N Neo2 Board + XP-90?

I just got the MSI GT6600 AGP for my new rig along with the VM-101... however, when I looked at it in relation to the XP-90 heatsink for the board, I got concerned that there won't be enough clearance. They look like they'll be very close to touching. I suppose if I oriented the XP-90 sink towards t...

YEah .. is hould have checked reseller ratings on this one.

I saw your post and was wondering the same thing. I just found this review: http://compreviews.about.com/b/a/070731.htm

I like the phrase at the end: "defenitely not silent" I think that probably sums it all up!

Hate to be a party pooper, but I vote "None of the above" 100 times. Hey...just as long as it's not a vote for me being a damn noob! Feel free to knock my setup. I have heard that until you spend about 200 on a powerconditioner for sound, it really doesn't change much of anything. Maybe that'...

Yes. Absolutely. I get a bit of it when absolutely nothing is plugged in but the usb. There is both a headphone jack and a TRS monitor jack.. I've tried it in both of those, both with headphones and with an amp/speaker. Same result. Now, understand, I'm talking about very quiet hiss. I have to turn ...

Power Conditioner. Will it change anything?

This is sort of a "gee-whiz" question  I currently own a pretty decent Alesis Powertrip-8 1800 Watt capacity Power conditioner. I got it to ensure little if any line noise hum when I do music recording (or even speaker hiss when performing). For that purpose, I have seen a fair amount of quali...
