Don't worry! Your PC will not ever break 200 W Seriously? are power consumption so over estimated? I honestly don't know how those calculators work. They're probably based on worst-case scenarios from all sorts of components. But a motherboard with integrated graphics and a low-power CPU like the 5...

Of the SPCR recommended PSU's, teh Seasonic M12D-850W is the quietest at 400 W. It's overkill for the watts, but VERY efficient at 400 W (87.9 % according to SPCR). I doubt you'll find may a PSU this good. Here you are: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article898-page5.html You can do things to take as...

Deffo go with core 216 over vanilla if you ask me! 55 nm means more energy efficiency than GTX260 and has more enabled stream processors (216 vs. 192 according to Anandtech). Core 216 and HD4870 1 GB seem to be about on-par with Core 216 having the slight edge, which is reflected in the price I gues...

Don't worry! Your PC will not ever break 200 W (unless you factor the monitor in, but you don't :))... Most good quality PSU's should be at their quietest at the load that your PC presents. Just get one of the SPCR popular PSUs. Maybe anything over 300 W PSU is overkill, but it's probably a necessit...

If you have your OS spin the harddrivs down when they're not used, you'll save quite some watts with ~10 harddrives. Other than that, looks fine to me. You can always get cable splitters, if you need more SATA connectors. Antoher thing. I don't think you can actually connect SATA 10 harddrives to th...

You can get a 200 W Dell DA-2 on eBay for $30-$40.

It's hard to tell from the description (unless I overlooked it, lol), whether that 230 W brick is 12 V or what it is, so I would just go with a Dell DA-2 like most other people. In that case, you'd also know the pins layout and such.

Re: Mini PCI-E SSD's on a standard computer?

Lots of the netbook manufacturers are offering system drives in SSD form (we all know this) but of interest is both Asus and Dell offering them in Mini PCI-E format. And now this format is gaining ground in the retail world as well, Newegg lists 5 different models of Mini PCI-E drives. My question ...

Yeah, great review. Same format as always, which is in no way bad thing. I like the solid design of the Nightjar series. Definitely something to be copied by other PSU makers. Judging by the efficiency charts, the old 300 W Nightjar is less efficient for just about any PC there is (so ST30NF outdate...

Hey! You need to find a way to connect the Dell DA-2 to the two 12 V leads that goes into the PW-200-V, but that shouldn't be too difficult if you know the basics of to use a soldering iron. I think you're looking at about 100 W, perhaps even more (120-130 W?) at full load (TV-tuners on, Blue Ray drive running at full tilt, graphics engine and CPU thinking hard). You'll be stressing a 120 W PicoPSU for sure, and you are probably going to have the power-brick fan turning on at times. But...

Hi! Your components look fairly standard for a HTPC. Only thing I will say, is that you should use a PicoPSU instead the Fortron Zen PSU. Your build is so basic, that it won't go past 100 W ever. Ninja 2 should fit the NSK4000. I have no idea if the HDD is fast enough, bonestonne and/or someone else...

Looks good, components are definitely up to the de-facto SPCR standards. Only thing I will recommend is that you think about whether you really want one or two hard drives, because they will be your primary source of noise. For instance one 1 TB WD Green Power will be a lot quieter than any two othe...
