It's pretty efficient but it's still the same as a celeron. I'd stay away from it. Guess you never had your hands on Celeron E3300 they overclock like mad,run quiet and cool, power effcient. Well if you want something that big SPCR reviewed the Zalman ZM1000-HP and it's on the approved list.

Re: Lifespan of fans? (nexus)

Nexus fans although good slient fans use sleeve bearings which wareout fast with heavy usage. The scythe s-flex series uses Ball bearing type bearing they call it the sony fluid dynamic bearing that last far longer then the Nexus fans and are just as quiet according to SPCR approved list. Re: Cooling for Antec Sonata III / Q6600

If you need keep the raid then switch your harddrives, Seagate drives are loud as hell. Try Samsung F3,F4,500GB WD5000AAKS or Raid WD Greens those known as quiet harddrives but anyway you slice it that number of drivers is going be noisy. You could try a different case like the Factual Design R3 XL ...

Re: Cooling for Antec Sonata III / Q6600

Looks to me like it's all those harddrives, stock cooler,Tri cool fan. Why not ditch the raid buy 3TB,2TB WB green and for the OS SSD or 500GB harddrive like the WD5000AAKS. I would swap all the current fans for Scythe S-flex 800,1200rpm/Nexus and for the CPU cooler Thermalright HR-02 if you can get ...

I would ditch the SSD buy Samsung HD F4,F3 1TB, SSD is small and over rated. HD6870 if you can afford it and scrap the Noctual fans go for Sycthe S-flex 1200rpm instead. Exchange the Ninja 3 for Thermalright HR-02. Power supply get something by Seasonic the X650 Gold.

Finally the Accelero S1 Rev. 2 now supports the HD6850 looks like they say you need the new VR001 chipsinks set and turbo module. VR001 are forsale at there webstore cheap but it's just bunch chipsinks. You could use your own chipsinks to cool the VRM and zip tie your choice of 120mm fan on it inste...

Re: Another year, another... Machine? ... But not very silen

Well it's nice PC but your choice of components is very poor for a slient pc. Most of what you bought are known to be extremely loud. You've built towards performance rather then slience it's possible to strike balance but two times ultra jet plane sounding GTX 470 are the worst. Case will have to g...

The rep says this is a resent change so I'm guess most the Corsair stock floating around is still Seasonic but it will run dry. I personally would avoid buying Corsair unless you want to gamble or buy it locally and check the labels. CWT isn't known for there slient PSU either.

If your 6600 GT has dual DVI why not replace the stock cooler with the Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 plus Turbo Module it would be cheaper then replacing the card and slient.

Keep the drive as a single partition. You'll be getting an SSD system drive sooner or later anyway. ;) Or if you really doubt that, one partition at about 100GB for operating system and games would keep the performance-important files from mixing with the data/music. SSD is highly overated,expensiv...

You should avoid the sleeve bearing Slipstreams all together they have history for failing after few months no matter how cheap there, there just not reliable fans. Just read some of the user reviews at newegg, NCIX etc... you'll see my point. Your better off going with the FDB Scythe S-Flex. The S-...

I noticed the specs are the same but it lacks the fancy the black finish and cable sleaving which I don't care about. SeaSonic SS-650HT OEM : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
