I use the same "straight through" method to feed my NeoHE with cool air, but use filters for the top two bays. I don't think there are any low power (and cheap) 80mm fan designed PSUs out there other than the NeoPower series. Obviously, the Signature or TruePower Quattro PSUs are overkill, both in t...

I built my main PC for animation and rendering. I bought everything right when it came out so in total i think i spent 3 g's. It renders pretty fast. 1 min video in highest quality in Maya rendered in about 4 min i think it was less. my laptop would normally take 30 min and the schools macs would t...

Nice one. The new GTX 260 looks like a great card, so it's a shame that they are too long to fit in a Solo, which otherwise is the perfect case. I wish someone would make a non-reference design, like Gigabyte have done with the 9800GTX+: http://uk.giga-byte.com/FileList/Image/vga_productimage_gv-n98...

I think I'll skip this round for the 40nm refresh. Gaming performance seems great, but I am happy with my 3870 at the moment. I believe the voltage of the card is not being altered when idle, which results in the offensively high idle power consumption. I think a driver update, or at least a driver ...

The cards look great, although I think I will skip this round to see what ATI can do with their 40nm shrink. However, I believe the 48x0 cards are slightly longer than the 38x0 cards; does anyone anticipate any problems fitting them into an Antec Solo? Not only does the length of the cards have to b...

I know my board would boot more quickly if I disposed of my IDE DVDRW and disabled the IDE controller. I believe the ICH9 chips that most of the P35 boards use don't have an IDE controller, so rely on a third party chip to provide this functionality. This means a longer start up process. I also beli...

Any 3 pin fans will work with the mobo. I am running 3 fans from the motherboard headers: a Yate Loon off the 4 pin CPU header, another Yate Loon from the System fan header and an Arctic Cooling Turbo Module from the Aux 1 fan header. I am not sure about the more feature rich IP35 Pro, but my board ...

Hey, just to warn you, the extra heat MAY cause damage to the PSU if you constantly run it like that. My PSU when i was using the TRUE ran much warmer with the TRUE facing up (i couldnt fit it normally because of the HR-05 and the PSU support bar). Excellent setup anyway! Another SOLO user *high fi...

Unfortunately, due to the AM2 HSF retention bracket, that is the only way the TRUE will face. All air from the main chamber is pulled out by the rear case fan and none makes it to the PSU so I am not too bothered about it really. The air coming out of the PSU does get fairly warm under extended load...

My Antec Solo next to a giant pepper grinder
I've not show off my computer in all its glory before, so here it is! Starting at the front, I removed the fan grills from in front of the two Glacialtech Silentblade 92mm fans. They are controlled by the Silverstone fan controller so that they are silent when idle but do draw a fairly significant a...

I also have this fan controller in black. It controls two Glacialtech 92mm fans at the front of my Solo and I couldn't be happier with it. At the lowest setting, the fans are silent. However, one thing I did notice with it when running a 120mm Yate Loon on my TRUE, was that I don't think it was able...

Re: Intriguing
Hmm AntecRep has got me thinking. I got the impression that my rear exhaust fan was making too much noise because the P182 was too close to the wall. You know, noise bouncing off a hard surface, or something. So I moved it further from the wall, and a tad towards me, and it does sound a bit quieter...

An enjoyable read, thanks for the review. I also found this quote damn amusing: Palit is a Hong Kong based manufacturer, so naturally an obese frog in a suit of high-tech armor adorns their HD 3870 box. I have had two 3870 cards; a reference Sapphire card and a non reference Gigabyte card. I agree t...

I too see the 200mm fan as unnecessary. A 120mm fan there would have been a much better choice in my opinion, especially with a less fussy designed exhaust. I would also like to see 2 120mm fans at the very front of the case, like the SOLO's 92mm design. You could then have 4 or 5 HDDs with an elast...

I bought an Accelero S1 rev2 along with the Turbo Module over the weekend and have installed it on my 3870. Idle temps are slightly lower than with the stock Zalman VF700 cooler but it easily outperforms it when loaded. The GPU temp mirrors that of the CPU temp and I've not yet seen it over 50 degre...
