Just try to close top vent (turn fan off too) and watch for temps. I don't know components layout inside the case, but currently it is possible that cool air flows directly from front intake to top exhaust.

Seagate 300GB 7200.9 is actually 2-platter drive - at least if its model number is ST3300622AS or similar, having number "2" in right place :) Just FYI.
